As the Program Business Manager, you will be the financial leader and trusted business partner for the C‑27J program. Working closely with the Program Director and broader leadership team, you’ll be responsible for end‑to‑end financial management, governance, reporting and insights that enable informed decision‑making and program success.

In this hands‑on role, you will:

  • Act as the key business partner to the Program Director, providing clear, timely and value‑adding financial insight
  • Own program financial performance including forecasting, estimates at completion, cash management, invoicing and reporting
  • Lead and embed strong project controls, financial governance and CAM processes
  • Present financial performance and insights to customers and internal stakeholders with confidence
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly and long‑range financial planning activities (LRSP and AOP)
  • Support contract deliverables, including pricing, change proposals and customer reporting
  • Identify financial and commercial risks, developing mitigation strategies that protect program outcomes
  • Lead and mentor a small team, fostering financial acumen, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Build trusted relationships across program teams, suppliers, customers and internal functions

About you:

You’re a confident, commercially minded leader who enjoys working in dynamic, stakeholder‑rich environments and isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves. You combine strong technical expertise with the ability to communicate clearly, influence effectively and lead with integrity.

You’ll bring:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA security clearance*
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commercial, Project Management or a related discipline
  • CPA or CA qualification
  • Proven experience in project financial management and controls, ideally within Defence or a regulated environment
  • Strong knowledge of cost‑to‑cost / percentage of completion, revenue recognition (AASB 15) and EAC reporting
  • Experience presenting financial information to senior leaders and customers
  • Well‑developed stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • A collaborative leadership style, with experience mentoring and developing others
  • Experience with Defence contracts and/or aviation maintenance environments (highly regarded)
