Job Description

Under supervision of the Fitness/Sports/Rec Management, the Fitness/Sports/Rec Prog Attendant will perform a variety of duties as defined for the successful operation of fitness, sports and recreation programing. The Fitness/Sports/Rec Prog Attendant must also demonstrate a strong work ethic and communication skills; athleticism- particularly with a knowledge of fitness equipment and organized sports like basketball, soccer, pickleball, etc. and enjoy building relationships with Kroc Center members and guests.

Responsibilities

The duties listed below are the primary duties of this position but are not all the duties that may be required. The Salvation Army reserves the right to change, reduce or expand the duties of this position at any time. Fitness

  • Ensure all members and day pass users are properly checked in. Direct any member who has an issue with their membership to the Welcome Desk.
  • Observe and enforce all safety rules and regulations to the best of your ability, i.e. members attire, language, music, storing backpacks in lockers, etc. Know when a situation needs further management and consult your management team.
  • Assist members as need be with proper technique and use of equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Fitness Center by wiping equipment on an ongoing basis.
  • Monitor and assure proper usage of program areas (specifically the Fitness Studios and the Fitness Center)
  • Setup and breakdown space for program activities.

Recreation/Sports

  • Assist in the implementation of all indoor and outdoor recreational sports programs, leagues, and other related activities as assigned.
  • Kroc Skills Training, Basketball and Pickle ball games/tournaments, etc.
  • Duties may include refereeing, coaching, scorekeeping, and officiating sports programs.
  • Setup and breakdown space for program activities

Customer Service

  • Maintain up to date knowledge of all programs and activities Be an ambassador for the Kroc Center by providing accurate information and promoting the center activities, programs, and services.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with members and guests by providing personal attention to all participants through a proactive welcoming approach.
  • Receive and handle incoming telephone calls, greet visitors and in a friendly and business-like manner. Direct calls and inquiries to appropriate program/staff in a timely manner.

Miscellaneous

  • Attend all staff and training meetings as assigned.
  • Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedure. Perform other assignments/duties as directed.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a passionate desire to work in and be a part of all fitness, sports and rec activities.
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills, and the ability to resolve conflicts in a peaceful manner.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills and be able to provide directions in a clear manner.
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must have ability to communicate and demonstrate proper techniques for weight training, and sports performance.
  • Work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing/planning needs.
  • Must understand and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
