Program Assistant

South Asia Program and Sustainability, Climate, and Geopolitics Program

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a renowned international affairs institution, seeks a Program Assistant to provide programmatic and administrative support for its South Asia program and its Sustainability, Climate, and Geopolitics (SCG) program. The program assistant will be based in Washington, D.C. and will split their time supporting both research programs.

The Program Assistant will provide programmatic, administrative, and events support to both programs. Duties will include assisting in organizing meetings, roundtables, and conferences; coordinating with other programs and organizations; tracking expenses and assisting in financial reporting; social media outreach; scheduling; managing stakeholder relationships through database administration; making travel arrangements; and light editing. This role is ideally suited to a candidate with an interest in gaining project management and programmatic operation skills.

Preferred candidates will have a bachelor's degree and some demonstrated administrative experience (internship or college experience is fine) along with the ability to balance multiple competing tasks efficiently, a high degree of reliability and attention to detail, a positive team spirit, and a can-do attitude marked by  flexibility and cooperation. Given that this position will support two research programs, strong organizational skills are essential. Interest in the research agenda of either program is a plus but not required
