
Within the context of a client and family-centred care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, this position provides administrative, secretarial and clerical support. Transcribes and types a variety of medical dictation and other documentation utilizing various software applications and acts as a receptionist by answering phones, determining urgency of calls and referring to staff. Greets clients, provides resource information and responds to various inquires. Complies, prepares and maintains statistical records for workload monitoring and program planning. Receives referrals, schedules and/or confirms client’s appointments, receives clients and provides information. Types material such as correspondence, psychiatric and physician assessments, discharge reports, memos, minutes, promotional material. Edits transcribed material for stylistic consistency and accuracy, identifies medical and verbal inconsistencies in dictation, makes corrections and resolves problems. QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Grade 12, graduation from an approved program in Medical Transcription and/or Medical Office Administration Certificate, plus one (1) year recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writingKnowledge of community, social and mental health resourcesKnowledge and experience in providing culturally competent support services specifically pertaining to aboriginal peopleKnowledge and experience in Trauma Informed Practice, Harm Reduction and Recovery Oriented careAbility to work independently and in cooperation with othersAbility to organize and prioritizeAbility to keyboard 5,000 keystrokes per hour.Business writing skillsKnowledge of general office proceduresAbility to establish and maintain rapport with clientsKnowledge of medical terminologyAbility to operate related equipmentPhysical ability to carry out the duties of the positionThe hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
