PURPOSE:
The Jewish Board’s Adult Residential Division supports adults with serious and persistent mental illness to live in the community with as much independence as possible. Using a non-judgmental, harm-reduction approach, staff model and guide residents to create and meet personalized recovery goals, develop independent living skills, and live in a healthy and secure manner. Our work is guided by principles that underscore the critical importance of stable housing, use a culturally competent and anti-racist lens, and respect the dignity and legitimacy of each individual’s journey.
The Jewish Board is the largest human services agency in New York City, serving more than 43,000 clients each year. We are widely recognized as a best-in-class provider of human services, delivering innovative, cutting-edge, and evidence-based mental health and behavioral health programs. The Program Assistant will provide programs with accomplishing various support service provisions.
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Offer program and administrative support to all programs in the Adult Residential Services area
• Work closely with senior staff to assist in the creation and maintenance of proposal materials and generate reports.
• Prepare and manage protected health information as well as other confidential materials
• As needed, fulfill general clerical duties, such as registering clients and greeting walk-in visitors, answering phones, responding to inquiries about Adult Residential programs, photocopying, faxing, and mailing of sensitive material
• Manual labor is essential in completing this position required tasks

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIRED:
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, problem solve, work creatively and independently, as well as function in a team environment
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/LANGUAGE PREFERENCE:
• Bilingual Spanish-English preferred
COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Ability and willingness to learn new systems and application software.
VISUAL AND MANUAL DEXIERITY:
• Engage in physical activities with the residence
• Ability to read paper and electronic documents
• Ability to perform data entry into various computer programs as needed
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
• Ability to lift 25 pounds to assist residents and to manage stairs in walk-up buildings as needed.
• To perform the essential functions of this job, the candidate is routinely required to sit (25% of the time) and stand (75% of the time)
