The Program Assistant is the welcoming face of the Community Center, greeting visitors, answering phones, and helping connect community members of all ages to programs and resources that meet their needs. This role combines strong customer service with administrative support, including fee collection, detailed Salesforce data entry, and thoughtful referrals to internal and external programs. The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, and comfortable asking questions to ensure every visitor receives helpful, well-rounded guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the front desk duties
  • Ensure the lobby is equipped with up-to-date information (e.g., flyers)
  • Support community center functions
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Work closely with other program assistants
  • Make reminder calls for enrichment classes and upcoming events
  • Perform data entry into Salesforce
  • Support food distributions
  • Support emergency assistance when needed
  • Provide general administrative support

QualificationsEducation

High School Diploma Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Very strong organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate and proficient in use of Windows, Excel, and MS Word.
  • Familiarity with community resources.
  • Willing to work flexible schedule, to include some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to read and understand documents, to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of families and staff
  • Experience using the ‘Asset Based Community Development Approach’ and/or ‘Appreciative Inquiry’ a plus.
  • Knowledge of TDPRS requirements regarding licensed school-age care programs

Computer Proficiency

Proficient in Windows, Excel, MS Word

Language Requirements

Bilingual Preferred (Spanish/English)
