Job Description

The Department of History at American University invites applications for a full-time, academic year appointment in British and European History at the rank of Professorial Lecturer beginning August 28, 2017. Teaching duties include seminars on nineteenth and twentieth century Britain, a lecture course on Britain since 1689, and general education survey courses on the age of Renaissance and Revolutions in Europe and/or Twentieth Century Europe. In addition to scholarship and teaching, responsibilities will may include participation in department, school and university activities.

Salary and benefits are competitive for a full time term appointment. The teaching load for the year is three courses in the Fall and three in the Spring. Funding for research and/or travel to participate in academic conferences is available. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
