Job Description

The Center for Oral Health Policy and Management (COHPM) at NYU College of Dentistry seeks a senior academic leader to advance the Center’s global oral health policy, international dental education, accreditation, and leadership development initiatives. Reporting to the Executive Vice Dean/Co-Executive Director of COHPM, the successful candidate will provide strategic and scholarly leadership across the Center’s domestic and international portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and advise international dental education and institutional development initiatives, including program design, governance, financing, quality assurance, and leadership development.
  • Serve as a senior advisor on dental accreditation and quality assurance, including accreditation standards, readiness assessments, consultation, training, and competency frameworks.
  • Advance COHPM’s oral health policy scholarship and dissemination through peer-reviewed publications, policy briefs, white papers, convenings, and other scholarly activities.
  • Develop and strengthen partnerships with governmental, multilateral, philanthropic, academic, professional, and industry organizations, including opportunities with organizations such as WHO and PAHO.
  • Contribute to the development of extramural funding, contracts, and sponsored initiatives that advance COHPM’s mission.
  • Teach and mentor within COHPM’s leadership education and academic programs, and mentor faculty, fellows, and students in oral health policy, global health, and related areas.
  • Fulfill the teaching, scholarship, service, and other responsibilities associated with a Professor-level faculty appointment in an academic department of NYU College of Dentistry.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $200K - $300K. New York University considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education and training, key skills, internal peer equity, and market conditions when extending an offer.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Earned terminal degree (DDS/DMD, PhD, or equivalent) and academic credentials appropriate for appointment at the rank of Professor.
  • Substantial senior academic leadership experience, such as serving as a dean, center director, or comparable executive leader within a dental school or academic health center.
  • Current, substantial experience with dental accreditation, including service as an accreditation site visitor, consultant, commissioner, or comparable role.
  • Established record of peer-reviewed scholarship and demonstrated success obtaining and managing extramural grants, contracts, or sponsored programs.
  • National or international leadership in oral health policy, dental education, accreditation, quality measurement, testing and assessment, or related areas.
  • Experience leading or advising international dental education, institutional development, or global oral health initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, diplomatic, written, and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to engage effectively with academic, governmental, international, and philanthropic stakeholders.
