What does a successful QA Engineer / Senior QA Engineer do at Fiserv?
At Fiserv, a successful QA Engineer delivers high-quality software solutions by ensuring robust testing across banking and payment processing applications. This role partners closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, and cross-functional teams to validate business requirements, automate test scenarios, perform API and database testing, and ensure seamless payment transaction processing within Agile delivery environments. The ideal candidate brings expertise in payment authorization flows, quality engineering practices, and test automation to support innovative financial solutions.
What you will do:
- Analyze and understand Epics, Features, User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria to create comprehensive test strategies.
- Design, develop, and execute test scenarios, test cases, and test data aligned with business requirements.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Execute manual and automated testing activities within sprint timelines to ensure quality delivery.
- Perform API testing using Postman, validating request/response payloads, authentication, status codes, and business rules.
- Develop and maintain UI automation frameworks using Playwright and support regression and smoke test execution.
- Conduct backend testing and data validation using PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
- Validate transactional data flows between applications, databases, and payment processing systems.
- Execute end-to-end testing of payment workflows, including Visa and Mastercard authorization transactions.
- Utilize payment simulators to validate transaction processing and settlement workflows.
- Log, track, and manage defects using Jira while collaborating with development teams on resolution and verification.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through test automation enhancements and increased test coverage.
- Participate in test reviews, walkthroughs, and knowledge-sharing sessions across multiple Agile teams.
What you will need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in Software Testing and Quality Assurance.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.
- Strong experience in API testing using Postman.
- Hands-on experience with UI automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, or TOSCA.
- Experience with database validation using PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of Snowflake for data validation and reporting.
- Experience with defect management and tracking using Jira.
- Understanding of automation scripting concepts and basic Java programming.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
What would be great to have:
- Experience in Banking, Payments, or Financial Services domains.
- Knowledge of payment processing systems and transaction lifecycle management.
- Hands-on experience with Visa and Mastercard authorization flows.
- Understanding of transaction settlement and payment processing concepts.
- Experience working with payment simulators and integration testing across distributed applications.
- Exposure to both manual and automated testing in enterprise-scale environments.
- Experience collaborating across multiple PODs and cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with Git and version control practices.
