Background
Enabel in Rwanda is implementing projects funded by third parties (European Union and Luxembourg) in Health, Agriculture, Urbanisation Forestry and Regional teacher’s initiative in Africa.
One of the health projects titled “Transforming Rwanda Biomedical Center into a Center of Excellence for public health (TRIBE HUB) aims to contribute to the population’s health and wellbeing (SDG 3) via the provision of essential public health services by National Public Health Institute (PHIs). It seeks to strengthen the institutional capacity of the National Public Health Institute to deliver essential public health functions and to enhance the effectiveness of health service delivery.
The TRIBE HUB focuses on two key objectives: building the capacity of RBC/NPHI to fulfil its core public health mandate and strengthening its digital health, data, and analytics capabilities.
The long-term sustainability of Rwanda’s Public Health Institute depends on a strong foundation of highly skilled professionals.
To support this objective, Enabel is currently looking for 5 Professional Interns in Public Health (f/m).
Duty Station: Kigali with possibility to travel and support district hospitals.
Duration of the contract: 6 months extendable once
Expected starting date: July 2026
Function
Under the direct supervision of the Health Project manager, and in close collaboration with the designated co-supervisor from National Public Health Institutes (NPHIs) including the Ministry of Health, and Rwanda Biomedical Center, the Public Health Interns will undertake secondary analyses of DHS VII and related datasets to generate evidence that informs program improvement and policy refinement focusing on priority areas such as malaria, childhood stunting, HIV, and maternal and neonatal mortality.

- Clean data set to be used for analysis
- Analysis framework agreed upon with the supervisor
- Write-up reports using guidelines agreed upon with the supervisor including preliminary findings and recommendations
- Scientific manuscript, Abstracts and Policy brief drafted for submission to the review committee
Profile
Required qualifications
- Rwandan citizenship;
- Age: maximum 25 years old;
- Alumni of the University of Rwanda within 12 months of graduation;
- Completion of a Master's program in the fields of Public Health, Global Health Delivery, Epidemiology, and any public health-related specialization;
- Must have minimum 70% grade for the final exam.
Skills and knowledge
- Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with partners and ensure strong collaboration
- Ability to use databases and analysis software
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office package
- Excellent communication in English and French (Kinyarwanda is a plus)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Able to engage in agile methodologies and cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to work under pressure and in a team, with flexibility.
- Highly self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for critical healthcare
- Solution-oriented mindset with ability to work under pressure.
