Annual Base Salary: $49,410.14, plus current annual Competitive Area Differential (C.A.D.) of $644.80

Paid Bi-Weekly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or accounting experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required bachelor’s degree; or any combination of experience and degree.
  • Knowledge/experience working with accounts receivable and collections.
  • Knowledge/experience working with basic accounting functions and principles.
  • Competent in the use of computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.

PREFERRED QUALIFCATIONS:

  • Experience in Healthcare accounting and medical billing.
  • Knowledge of State of Florida and Federal laws and rules regarding healthcare billing regulations.
  • Experience in the use of Healthcare Information Systems.
  • Experience in the use of State of Florida (FLAIR) accounting system.

Under the general supervision of the Health Operations Manager, incumbent performs professional accounting duties involving independent applications of accounting skills reviewing activities and coordination of other fiscal related matters while utilizing the current agency billing software. Responsible for various financial functions including but not limited to recording, tracking, reconciling, and monitoring long-term care revenue received by the State Veterans’ Nursing Home and Domiciliary transferred into the general ledger. Responsible for monitoring residents’ room and board accounts receivables for all facilities including but not limited to the following:

  • Monitoring of veteran resident’s patient liability and collections for compliance with Section 17.20, Florida Statutes and monthly reporting to the Health Operations Manager, Division of Administration, Long-Term Care Program Director and Facility Administrator.
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly A/R reports of veteran resident’s patient liability.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining updated Standard Operating Procedures and step-by step instructions of job responsibilities as assigned.
  • Monitor, review, record daily cash deposits, and scan necessary documentation into the Health Information System (HIS).
  • Monitor, track and process resident co-insurance adjustments.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end balancing and reporting of all adjustments made in the HIS to the Fiscal Officer.
  • Monthly reconciliation of deposits recorded into the HIS to the State Accounting System.
  • Monthly reconciliation of all Resident Trust Fund bank accounts for all facilities.
  • Submit all aged accounts to the State collection agency.
  • Submit annual reporting of all delinquent accounts per Florida statutes.
  • Prepare and submit write-off requests to the Department of Financial Service.
  • Participate with cross-training activities with the Billing Unit to provide coverage as needed.
  • Perform other billing/business related duties and assists other team members as assigned.

Degree/License/Certification:

Preference given to candidates who possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business, or related degree.

Language:

English proficiency.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.

Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and computer skills (Internet searches, Excel, Word, etc.). Highly motivated and work well independently and in a team environment. Applicant must have strong organizational skills.
