Job Description

FGB Natural Products is an Australian owned family pharmaceutical company specialising in natural products and healthy solutions for you and your family. Our plantation and distillery operations based in and around Inglewood (VIC) has proudly been the primary producer of eucalyptus oil since 1852. With propriety brands including Bosisto’s, Euky Bear, Clements and Hypol we’re striving towards helping families live a healthier, more natural life.

About the Role:

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for an experienced Production/ Reliability Engineer to take genuine ownership of an end-to-end eucalyptus distillery process — from mulch arrival through to final oil storage. This isn't a role for someone who prefers the sidelines: you'll be building processes from the ground up, establishing the maintenance framework, and leading the ongoing reliability and performance of a unique and specialised facility.

Key responsibilities of the role:

Process Development & Stability

  • Develop and execute controlled processes for boiler and distilling operations, establishing foundational process stability across the facility
  • Author, implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and risk controls — including boiler water supply, distillery-boiler integration, separator reliability and feed/fuel systems
  • Establish safe and reliable overnight boiler operation protocols, including risk assessments and response planning

Maintenance Systems, Schedules & Contractor Management

  • Establish and manage a comprehensive asset maintenance plan for all distillery equipment — defining responsibilities, timing, records, cost controls and performance tracking
  • Lead on-site supervision of contractors and service providers, ensuring safety compliance and quality outcomes
  • Oversee both preventative and reactive maintenance activities, providing hands-on support to the internal team as required
  • Continuously improve maintenance processes and practices across the facility

Production & Performance

  • Act as a key stakeholder in the Distillery Team, driving KPIs including bins per day, yield per bin and cost performance
  • Apply Lean methodologies (e.g. Value Stream Mapping) to eliminate waste, reduce downtime and improve throughput
  • Train and coach team members in SOPs and operations as the resident Subject Matter Expert

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Manage HSE risk assessments, Safe Work Practices, SWMS and site inductions
  • Ensure full safety compliance across all distillery plant and operations

Being part of the FBG team means:

  • You’ll live and be a part of strengthening our values of being committed to health and wellbeing, always looking for ways to impress our customers all the while keeping a do right mindset front and centre in all that we do.
  • You’ll benefit from a competitive salary package and ongoing training and career development
  • Enjoying a generous annual allowance to spend on our fantastic products
  • Having an additional day of leave for your birthday
  • Access to 12 weeks paid parental leave
  • Flexibility – we support helping you achieve work/life balance

About you:

You are an engineer who thrives in hands-on, process-intensive environments. You have the technical depth to build reliable systems from scratch, and the practical experience to get things done on the ground. To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience in process development with a strong focus on reliability engineering and foundational process stability — you've built processes, not just maintained them
  • Proven capability in setting up and managing maintenance systems, tasks, schedules and contractor relationships for both preventative and reactive maintenance
  • Strong contractor management skills with solid OHS knowledge and a safety-first mindset
  • Expertise in process controls — PLC, HMI and automation systems
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills across mechanical, pneumatic, automation and hydraulic systems
  • Experience with Capital Expenditure processes, risk controls and lean manufacturing principles
  • Track record of managing production KPIs aligned with budget, uptime and condition monitoring
  • Mechanical hands-on skills — you're comfortable picking up tools when the situation calls for it
  • Background in Production, Reliability, Site, Process or Maintenance Engineering/Management
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office

Desirable:

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Process, Maintenance or related discipline)
  • Experience in distillery, food processing, agricultural or primary production environments

About FGB Natural Products

At FGB we are proud of our rich heritage, innovative natural product range and our commitment to Australian eucalyptus oil.

Established over 175 years ago and still proudly Australian family owned, our flagship brand Bosisto’s is Australia’s number 1 in Essential Oils*.

Its story began in 1852 when Melbourne pharmacist Joseph Bosisto began championing the medicinal properties of Australia’s native eucalypts.

Since that time the Bosisto's range has grown to include laundry, cleaning, personal care and health products as well as an ever-expanding range of diffusers and aromatherapy blends sold in major supermarkets and pharmacy nationwide.

FGB’s other proprietary brands include Euky Bear, now celebrating almost 50 years of caring for Aussie families. We are also the exclusive distributors of Vicks Home Health and Braun Medical devices in Australia & NZ.

Eucalyptus oil production is our heart & soul, and we have been harvesting and distilling eucalyptus oil in the Inglewood and Wedderburn district of north east Victoria, since 1852.

The oil produced is derived from ‘Blue Mallee’ (Eucalyptus Polybractea) – a high quality medicinal oil, that is a sustainable and renewable resource.

To date we have planted more than 4 million trees and have plans for future expansion.

Our vision is to be a leading Australian natural products company and a champion of Australian eucalyptus oil – and our mission? To help families live a healthier, more natural life.
