The primary responsibility of this position is to unload and load heavy equipment being received into and shipped out of the Equipment Depot. This position requires the skilled and safe operation of a high-capacity forklift to load and unload oversized loads of heavy equipment. This position also requires the skilled and safe operation of a road tractor and lowboy trailer used for transporting heavy equipment and oversized loads on lengthy trips within the state. This position will assist other personnel in the Production Unit with the inspection of incoming equipment and preparation for delivery to the Divisions including but not limited to: Installation of decals, license tags, and any other devices used to identify or mark equipment, sorting, repacking and grouping of miscellaneous parts and accessories to be shipped out with equipment. This position works directly under the Production Unit Supervisor and is responsible for the security and good condition of the loads being moved, extensive record keeping, and route planning for deliveries. Will also help keep central equipment yard organized of various types of equipment, which includes grading the yard and general housekeeping. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC06 $17.11 - $29.94 hourly

Management prefers applicants with the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to operate a high capacity all terrain forklift
  • Experience driving a tractor trailer type truck with lowboy trailer
  • Working knowledge of ICC rules and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to service and provide minor maintenance to vehicles and auxiliary equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain records and reports of transportation operations

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements: Must possess necessary licenses or certifications to operate assigned types of vehicles or equipment.
