JOB TITLE: Production Training and Development Specialist

REPORTS TO: Production Manager

FLSA: Non-exempt

Responsible for onboarding and training new production employees in the Micro Mold and Small Mold departments at Accumold to ensure they are proficient in job-specific tasks, quality standards, safety requirements, and company procedures. This position serves as a key resource for improving employee performance by monitoring production quality issues, identifying training-related deficiencies, and implementing corrective training solutions. This position works closely with Production, Quality, and Human Resources teams to ensure employees have the knowledge and skills needed to perform high-quality products consistently. Although the position reports to one department they will move to other departments as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct orientation and hands-on training for new production employees.
  1. Ensure new employees understand work instructions, quality requirements, safety procedures, and department expectations.
  1. Evaluate trainee comprehension and performance through the training process. Communicate progress, quality concerns, and improvement opportunities to management.
  1. Conduct observations and audits on the production floor to verify compliance with established procedures.
  1. Assist in the development and continuous improvement of training materials, documents, and work instructions.
  1. Work closely with supervisors and team leads to identify skill gaps and develop training plans for employees.
  1. Coordinate refresher training and cross-training initiatives as needed.
  1. Follow up on corrective and preventative actions to ensure completion and effectiveness.
  1. Promote a culture of continuous learning, quality, and accountability throughout the production environment.
  1. Other duties as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  1. Education/ExperienceHigh school education coursework or GED required. Experience or training in plastic part manufacturing. Understands measuring and inspection equipment used to monitor quality. Ability to understand mechanical concepts used in production.
  2. Computer SkillsAbility to perform basic tasks using Windows operating system. Openness to learning IQMS operating system, ISMECA operating testing system and other software programs used in production.
  3. Language Skills Ability to read, comprehend, and utilize instructions and short correspondence with coworkers and supervisors. Ability to effectively present information to other employees, in one-on-one and small group situations
  4. Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and understand specification drawings for inspection purposes.
  5. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a number of concrete variables. Ability to follow simple verbal instructions.
  6. Other Skills and Abilities Willingness to attend classes or training to enhance and update knowledge and skills.
  7. Supervisory Responsibilities None.
  8. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is frequently required to sit/stand and use hand to manipulate very small parts or tweezers. Sense of touch may be used to detect texture, burs, and edges. Frequent movement throughout the facility is required. Normal or corrected to normal vision (20/20) is required with good color vision, close vision, and ability to use microscope and adjust focus. May be required to move or transport up to 55 lbs.
  9. Work EnvironmentThe duties of this job are executed in a climate-controlled environment with few temperature or humidity extremes. Noise levels will vary from very low to moderate depending on the location that the work is performed within the facility. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This role will require the individual to move from department to department to support business demands. Additional training and On-The-Job refresher training will be built into the position. Use of safety glasses is required. Safety shoes are optional.
