The role is based atDroneShield’scentral Sydney headquarters. Overseas on-the-ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Netherlands, Denmark,Mexicoand Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries worldwide.

About the role

The Production Technician performs mechanical and electrical assembly tasks, following detailed technical drawings and work instructions to produce high-quality products. This role tests products using various equipment, assembles components with hand tools, and identifies or reports defects and quality issues to supervisors. The Production Technician supports inventory tracking and materials handling, troubleshoots basic technical issues during assembly or testing, provides feedback to improve processes and documentation, and maintains a clean, safe, and compliant work environment, ensuring all production activities meet established quality standards.

The position will report primarily to the Manufacturing Team Lead and will work closely with other members of the Production Team, Design Team and the Procurement Team.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

  • Performs mechanical and electrical assembly tasks.
  • Reads, interprets and follows detailed technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Test products using a variety of test equipment such as VNAs and spectrum analyzer.
  • Assemble products using a variety of hand tools.
  • Identifies and reports defects or quality issues to supervisors.
  • Assists in inventory tracking and materials handling.
  • Troubleshoots basic technical issues during assembly or testing.
  • Provides feedback to improve processes and documentation.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensures quality compliance.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Experience in electronics assembly.
  • Experience with RF equipment and testing preferred.  
  • Degree in Engineering or relevant certification as a technician (IPC certified or trained).   
  • Ability to follow complex assembly and testing instructions.  
  • Passionate about technology.  
  • Excellent attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a fast-paced team.  
  • Respect and appreciation of process, doing the right thing even if no-one is watching.  
  • Strong ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and handle pressure.  
  • Clear communication (both verbal and written) with team members.  
  • “Can do” attitude and willingness to help in variety of tasks, including occasional tasks unrelated to the core role.  
  • Suitable to hold a security clearance if required.
