Production Technician

The Production Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective production of safe drinking water. The role involves maintaining and monitoring all equipment and processes used in the production of water, maintaining records of water quality and production data to ensure that they meet regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the water treatment plant and associated equipment to ensure the efficient production of safe drinking water.
- Carry out routine checks on the plant and equipment to ensure they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
- Take water samples at regular intervals and carry out laboratory tests to ensure that the water quality meets regulatory standards.
- Record and maintain data on water quality and production, using computer systems and written records.
- Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on equipment to ensure optimum performance and resilience.
- Respond to plant and equipment faults and breakdowns, taking corrective action to resolve any issues.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and to identify and report any hazards or risks.
- Assist with the training of new staff and provide guidance and support to other team members.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to contribute to the overall success of the Company.
- Respond to emergency works outside of normal working hours on request.
- Manage contractors and third parties working on our sites.
- Attend training courses as required.
- Option to join Standby Duty Officer role
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A minimum of a Level 2 NVQ in water operations or equivalent discipline is desirable.
- Time served hands-on engineering or manufacturing apprenticeship.
- Proficient in both electrical and mechanical services.
- Experience working in the water industry or a similar process industry.
- Computer literate, with a solid understanding of the office 365 software suite
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and risk management.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid clean driving licence.
- Forklift truck qualification and experience desirable.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.
- The ability to work under own initiative with minimal supervision.
- A team player who can collaborate to ensure business objectives are met in a timely fashion.
