Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Supervising production teams to ensure safe and efficient operation of production lines, producing quality Ziegenfelder treats for delivery to customers.
  • Leading and driving a team in a manner consistent with Ziegenfelder Values.
  • Supporting Safety, Quality and the Operation Teams to produce and package quality Ziegenfelder treats.
  • Coordinating with Operations Manager or Plant Director to manage staffing levels ensuring safe, efficient, and productive use of employees.
  • Ensuring that environmental and safety expectations are followed during the shift and that exceptions, needs or opportunities are addressed and shared via our Event Management application.
  • Verifying production paperwork to confirm completion, and accuracy, of raw material usage logs, metal detector calibrations, and product quality checks.
  • Undertaking proper corrective/preventative actions when there is a safety, quality, or defective product event.
  • Coordinating with Plant Director and Operations Manager to review and adhere production schedules, cleaning operations, and product changeovers.
  • Working with Operations Manager or Plant Director to ensure Operators have the leadership skills and abilities necessary to lead production teams to success.
  • Follows all GMP and SQF procedures and practices.
  • Assists in training of new personnel.
  • Ensures quality standards of products are met.
  • Assists Maintenance to ensure machines are in proper operational conditions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a management or leadership role in a manufacturing environment, preferred but not required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment highly preferred.
  • Ability to motivate and lead in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading and driving a team towards specific production goals or KPIs is a must.
  • Mechanical or operational background, in addition to the above qualifications, is a plus.
  • OSHA 10-hour General Industry Training and Certification a plus.
  • Root-cause or problem-solving training a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing up to 8 hours per day.
  • Bending, twisting, reaching and grasping actions.
  • Good spatial awareness working around manufacturing equipment.
  • May need to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 30 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs. of force constantly.
  • May need to climb, balance, stoop, crouch, reach, stand, push, and pull frequently during a shift.

Working Conditions

  • Subject to cold temperatures of less than 32F for more than one hour with proper protection equipment.
  • May be subject to noise above 85 decibels with proper protection equipment
