We’re proud to be delivering the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP), and we’re looking for the best people to help make it happen.

QTMP involves the design, manufacture and maintenance of 65 new six-car passenger trains to support Cross River Rail and the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games. These trains will be built at a new, purpose-built facility in Torbanlea on the Fraser Coast.

About the role

The Production Supervisor is vital to the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP), ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient operations at the Torbanlea facility. This role oversees daily manufacturing, coordinates resources, leads a skilled team, and upholds Downer’s standards of innovation and asset management through continuous improvement and collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Ensuring high quality work is produced in line with customer specifications

• Management of a production workforce, safety, quality and schedule

• Driving development within the team and seeking opportunities for continuous improvement

• Producing reports for leadership where necessary

• Conduct meetings including toolbox talks and pre-starts

About You

• Relevant Trade Qualification

• Strong background in team supervision and leadership

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project Management software

• Knowledge of health and safety regulations

• Knowledge of rollingstock and manufacturing processes

• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and best practices (LEAN Manufacturing);

• Knowledge of Quality principles and investigations.

• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams
