Production Supervisor – Plastic Injection Molding

Job Type: Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire

Schedule: Monday–Friday

Pay: $25.00–$35.00 per hour, based on experience

Position Overview

A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor / Process Technician with Plastic Injection Molding experience. This role will supervise production employees, monitor and troubleshoot molding processes, ensure safety and quality standards are met, and support efficient production operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct production employees to ensure safe, efficient, and productive operations.
  • Work with management, engineering, and staff regarding production schedules and manufacturing requirements.
  • Communicate processing issues and concerns to the Manufacturing Manager.
  • Provide complete shift handoffs to ensure smooth production transitions.
  • Monitor processes according to master setup sheets and job book requirements.
  • Complete and verify process verification sheets.
  • Respond to process deviations and document process changes according to company procedures.
  • Follow procedures for machine setup, operation, changeovers, and shutdown.
  • Troubleshoot injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and process issues.
  • Obtain approval before making process changes when required.
  • Inspect, clean, service, and maintain equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Document equipment issues and coordinate timely repairs.
  • Set tools as needed according to the production schedule.
  • Report or repair tooling issues when qualified.
  • Maintain all required production and shift documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production floor.
  • Train employees on equipment operation, production procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities.
  • Use computer systems to complete production documentation and other tasks.
  • Assist with employee relations, PTO approvals, and performance reviews.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, management, engineering, and other departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior supervisory experience in Plastic Injection Molding is REQUIRED.
  • 1–3 years of related manufacturing experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting plastic injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions, procedures, and memos.
  • Ability to complete basic written documentation and correspondence.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Understanding of proper workplace safety procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • RJG training or certification.
  • Experience using an RJG eDART system.
  • Certified Master Molder training.
  • Automotive plastic injection molding experience.
  • Experience with process troubleshooting, setup, and optimization.
  • Experience working in an IATF-controlled manufacturing environment.
