Job Description

As a Production Supervisor you play a pivitol role in managing personnel and plant operations to ensure we meet our customers' needs safely and efficiently. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will oversee production activities, monitor costs, and foster a culture of safety and quality.As a subject matter expert, you will guide your team in safe equipment operation and ensure they are well-trained. Your leadership will be vital in maintaining communication with management and supporting our production and quality initiatives. Work Schedule: 7pm to 7am. The work schedule will follow a rotating pattern, with 2 to 3 consecutive days at a time, including weekends/holidays to support a 24/7 operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead 20-25 team members.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to team members to promote positive change and foster a constructive work environment. Ensure their ongoing growth and development to include proper training to perform their duties.
  • Conduct regular floor walks throughout the shift to stay informed about operations and provide general support for plant production and quality. Maintain ongoing communication with management to ensure an efficient workflow on the production floor.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on the safe evacuation of products from all tanks, including the operation of pumps, mixers, filters, and lift trucks.
  • Monitor department performance metrics, including overtime, equipment and material usage, personnel issues, productivity, quality, and project progress.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control on quality issues to develop cost-effective solutions and preventative measures. Adhere to quality assurance instructions for proper sampling of product batches.
  • Be a safety champion by attending safety meetings, reporting any incidents or accidents, and reinforcing adherence to all plant safety policies and procedures within your team.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to maintain cleanliness and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Facilitate transition meetings between outgoing and incoming supervisors at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • In the absence of the Production Supervisor, another Production Supervisor or production lead will serve as backup.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree is preferred, or a minimum of 5+ years of related manufacturing or production experience and/or training in a similar environment in lieu of a degree.
  • 2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role is strongly preferred.
  • Supervisory/managerial skill set, involving leadership, alignment of actions and plans with strategies, fostering a learning culture, and building collaborative, motivated teams focused on achieving results.
  • Strong coaching abilities to foster employee development and promote both individual and team success.
  • Strong focus on driving results along with a strong focus on problem-solving and implementing change
  • Proven experience in planning, along with a keen interest in continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of SAP is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to convey a positive attitude and encourage a learning environment focused on continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrates strong initiative and a commitment to continuous improvement, with a natural coaching and development style and a genuine interest in helping others grow.
  • Exhibits exceptional negotiation and influencing skills, effectively navigating complex situations to drive successful outcomes through persuasive communication and strategic decision-making.
  • A self-starter with unwavering integrity and confidence, capable of achieving challenging objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels of management, as well as with customers and vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
