Hot End Production Supervisor

  • Ranson, WV
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday 1st Shift
  • Pay: $80,000 - $110,000 a year

About the Role:

As a Hot End Supervisor at ROCKWOOL's Ranson, West Virginia facility, you'll lead melting technicians across all shifts. You're responsible for safe, efficient furnace operations that meet our quality standards. Reporting to the Production Manager, you'll be the key link between your team and plant leadership, ensuring we maintain product quality while protecting people and the environment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Technical Degree/Certification or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a continuous flow manufacturing or industrial environment and working with automated equipment required.
  • 2+ years’ experience leading a team in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to direct, manage, and coach the daily activities of a team of manufacturing employees.
  • Act as a ROCKWOOL ambassador demonstrating our core values of Ambition, Integrity, Responsibility and Efficiency.
  • Demonstrated or proven:
    • Organizational and analytical skills;
    • Basic computer knowledge and skills;
    • Acute attention to detail;
    • Written and verbal communication skills;
  • Problem-solving and trouble shooting skills;
  • Accuracy and data integrity.

What You’ll Do:

Safety & Environment

  • Build and maintain a "zero incidents" safety culture on the production floor
  • Document and investigate safety and environmental issues to prevent recurrence
  • Train and coach team on safe operating practices

Production & Quality

  • Oversee furnace operations to meet ROCKWOOL's quality standards consistently and on schedule
  • Strive to meet production goals including time and material efficiency
  • Maintain accurate records of production, inventory, and staffing levels within budget

Team Development

  • Lead and coach melting technicians across all shifts
  • Build and train a high-performing team of technicians
  • Develop backup operators and plan for succession in key roles

Shutdown & Stops

  • Direct and lead team through all planned and unpanned stops to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Plan all pot relines and ensure reline pot is always ready within a week of replacing the pot.

Materials Management

  • Work with purchasing to ensure raw materials (rock, chemicals, filters, etc) are always plentiful.
  • Ensure a robust plan for keeping all tools and equipment needed for tasks are stored properly and accessible only to personnel performing tasks.

Cost Management

  • Work with management team to find cost savings within areas of responsibilities; i.e. cleaning, waste deposits, raw materials, etc..
  • Identify and eliminate operational inefficiencies to reduce costs over time

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify problems and implement solutions on the furnace line
  • Use daily management practices to drive ongoing operational improvements

  • Lift, carry, push or pull up to 60lbs; 120lbs assisted

  • Hear, walk, climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk, and smell.
