Job Summary

Our client, an established manufacturing organization, is seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead its day shift operations. This position will provide day-to-day leadership to production employees while driving safety, quality, productivity and accountability across the floor. The successful candidate will be an approachable and credible people leader who can introduce structure and consistency while building strong relationships with an experienced workforce. This is an opportunity to play an important role in a growing operation undergoing positive operational change.

The Role:

  • Provide hands-on leadership and direction to production employees throughout the day shift.
  • Coordinate daily production activities to achieve safety, quality, output and delivery objectives.
  • Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance while maintaining a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing and production priorities and adjust resources as required.
  • Coach, train and develop employees while supporting onboarding and integration of new team members.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure employees follow established health and safety procedures.
  • Identify production bottlenecks, inefficiencies and recurring issues and work with leadership to implement practical improvements.
  • Monitor quality standards and address production or workmanship concerns promptly.
  • Work cross-functionally with maintenance, materials, scheduling, shipping and management to keep production moving efficiently.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, waste reduction, quality and operational consistency.
  • Participate in performance management, attendance management and employee relations matters as required.
  • Maintain accurate production records and communicate shift performance, issues and priorities to management.
  • Build credibility with employees and support operational changes in a practical, collaborative manner.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 3+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
  • Strong people leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate and hold employees accountable.
  • A hands-on leadership style and willingness to maintain a visible presence on the production floor.
  • Strong understanding of production environments, including safety, quality, productivity and workflow.
  • Able to work effectively with a mix of long-tenured and newer employees and build trust across the team.
  • Comfortable introducing structure, processes and performance expectations in an evolving operation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make practical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear and professional communication skills with employees, peers and senior leadership.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement or operational efficiency initiatives is an asset.
  • Familiarity with production reporting, scheduling and manufacturing systems is preferred.
  • Experience within building materials, industrial products, packaging or a related manufacturing environment would be an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in operations, manufacturing, business or a related field is an asset; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
