Job Description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production while meeting customer requirements and delivery commitments. This position provides leadership, direction, training, and support to production employees and promotes a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, teamwork, and safety.

The Production Supervisor coordinates production activities, monitors productivity and quality metrics, resolves operational issues, and works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support business objectives.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to ensure adherence to quality, safety, and productivity standards.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize workflow to meet customer delivery schedules and operational goals.
  • Monitor production performance and investigate issues impacting quality, efficiency, or throughput.
  • Review production schedules and staffing needs to maximize operational effectiveness.
  • Conduct daily shift meetings and communicate production goals, company initiatives, and safety expectations.
  • Ensure all operating procedures, GMPs, SOPs, and company policies are followed.
  • Maintain accurate production records, reports, and departmental documentation.
  • Train, coach, and develop production employees to improve performance and support career growth.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and guidance.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, disciplinary actions, and employee development activities in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Promote and enforce workplace safety practices and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety programs.
  • Conduct accident investigations and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Planning, Customer Service, and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and waste reduction efforts.
  • Ensure equipment, tooling, and materials are available to support production requirements.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Printing, packaging, labels, flexible packaging, or converting industry experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership and employee coaching skills.
  • Ability to motivate and develop teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and production scheduling.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ERP/manufacturing systems.
  • Ability to interpret specifications, work instructions, and production documentation.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the production facility.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform other physical activities associated with a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work near moving equipment and machinery while following all required safety procedures.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and production environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Occasional overtime, weekend work, and schedule flexibility may be required to support operational needs.
