Our Production Supervisor is responsible for contributing to and overseeing daily production activities to meet production goals, quality standards, and cost objectives. Primarily floor-based (>50%) and includes direct labor responsibilities in addition to coordinating and leading a team in assigned production areas.
This role:
- Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply
- Supports planning and administration of procedures and budgets
- Provides input to budgetary recommendations and monitors expenditures related to direct/indirect labor and materials
- Develops schedules based on manpower requirements for assigned areas
- Actively participates in production operations while assisting in selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel to ensure efficient operation of the function
FUNCTIONS OR DUTIES
Performs required leadership responsibilities including but not limited to:
Implementing company policies, programs, and guidelines; supporting employee productivity and development
Coordinating resources; maintaining working knowledge of Varex’s business; and sustaining functional, technical, and external market awareness necessary for the assigned area
Works alongside team members on the production floor to ensure adherence to standards, resolve issues in real time, and meet operational targets

Required Skills and Knowledge
Ability to lead and support people in a hands-on environment
Understanding of operations finance, particular to direct and indirect labor and associated expenses
Knowledge with Lean Mfg, DFT, JIT or similar principles
Demonstrated ability to balance production work with coordination responsibilities
Experience Level with Business Tools
Familiarity and working abilities with: Project Planning, charting and presentations
Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.
Education and Experience
Bachelors Degree or equivalent
3+ years of related experience
Typically no prior management experience
