The Production Shift Supervisor is an operational supervisor position responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily manufacturing operations. This role provides direction to manufacturing employees, assigns and reallocates work, monitors production and quality, and helps ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and on time. You will also assist with material picking, cutting, staging, assembly, inventory, and finished goods material handling procedures as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and prioritize daily production schedules based on workload, board footage goals, and customer deadlines.
  • Conduct production meetings and assign or reallocate employees to workstations as needed throughout the shift.
  • Monitor production and shipping efficiencies to meet manufacturing goals and maximize equipment capacity.
  • Assist with material picking, cutting, staging, assembly, inventory, and finished goods material handling as needed.
  • Understand the manufacturing process in order to educate, coach, and train employees.
  • Monitor employee performance and productivity, providing direction, feedback, and addressing performance concerns as needed.
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing training and development to existing employees.
  • Monitor and enforce quality control and safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist with quality control issues and corrections as needed.
  • Communicate production needs, priorities, issues, and updates with management, the design team, dispatch, and other shifts.
  • Help maintain a positive and productive work environment and promote efficient daily operations.
  • Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing practices to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Assist with employee selection and performance evaluations as assigned.
  • Address performance management or disciplinary issues as necessary, with guidance from management.
  • Learn the basics of MiTek Management and Structure and MiTek Virtual Plant (MVP) to provide support in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear in order to communicate with other employees and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently required to walk to and from various areas within the facility.
  • Work schedules or production demands may require work outside of normal hours or on weekends.
  • Occasional business travel may be required.
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production scheduling, and workflow.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively coach, train, and develop employees.
  • Ability to prioritize work and make timely decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to analyze technical problems, determine root causes, and develop solutions.
  • Ability to recommend changes to improve production efficiency and achieve business objectives.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Basic knowledge of computers, hardware, and software, with proficiency in applicable design and manufacturing software.
