Stella-Jones is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee daily production activities and shaving requirements at our Kirkland, Ontario facility. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the successful candidate will coordinate production schedules, manage employees, support inventory activities, and help ensure that operational and safety requirements are met.
This role is well suited to an experienced production professional who is organized, solutions-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare yard work orders and production schedules.
• Manage yard stock transfers.
• Coordinate pole schedules, including framing, cutbacks, recalls, drying, and treating.
• Work with the outside sales team to support customer orders.
• Coordinate off-sales activities.
• Participate in cycle counts and annual inventory counts.
• Actively participate in the Health and Safety Committee.
• Identify safety issues and implement effective solutions.
• Schedule third-party inspection requirements.
• Manage and direct production employees.
• Ensure employee hours are entered accurately into the payroll system.
• Complete payroll reports and other required documentation.
• Prepare necessary paperwork and operational reports.
• Assist with annual budgeting activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of related production or industrial experience.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Knowledge of utility pole and customer standards is an asset.
• Knowledge of Ontario health and safety standards.
• Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office and SAP.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Effective time and stress-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing work assignments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and motivate employees.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with production, sales, and other internal teams.
