The Production Supervisor shallbe responsible forsupervising and coordinating the activities of production and operation workers (approximately 50-75employees), such as assemblers, inspectors, precision workers, machine operators, fabricators, and plant and system operators. The Production Supervisors shall ensure that production schedules are created and completed on time, safely, and within budget

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Direct the manufacturing workforce to achieve production goals.

  • Enforce safety and sanitation regulations.

  • Anticipates production obstacles and manages team and stakeholders to overcome them.

  • Provide leadership and ownership of product quality while consulting with Quality staff and Engineers on qualityissues;accountable for the overall QA performance of the manufacturing unit.

  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints,and production issues.

  • Provide motivation for employees, increasing morale,worker efficiency,and production rates.

  • Process and approve hourly timesheets;correctsexceptionsin a timely manner

  • Monitor and assess employee’s performance, attendance,schedulingetc.

  • Ensure that work orders are completed ina timelyfashion, within budget.

  • Ensure safety is a priority with all workers, oversee strict adherence to Alberta and Canadian Occupational Health and Safety guidelines, attend JHSA meetings as needed.

  • Work with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments

  • Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training.

  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, productionschedulesand other records / reports todetermineproduction requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputsandtake action to meetschedule deadlines.

  • Read andreview ofmanufacturing engineering packages and provide improvement feedback.

  • Performs all dutiesin accordance withSilent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.

  • Other duties asrequired

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Universitydegree or diploma in related field is an asset

  • 3 or more years’ experience as a production supervisor

  • Training and knowledge of Six Sigma techniques, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing are desirable.

  • Direct working knowledge of operations,warehouse, and transportation management

  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/orservicesordering, as well as inventory control of these items

  • Knowledge of local and federal regulations including AOHS and Employment Standards Code

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets

  • Experience with all safe practices, procedures, and overall processes associated with manufacturing from raw materials to finished product.

Working Conditions

  • BothIndustrial/Commercial andoccasional Office environments.

  • Exercise caution, as the environment presents many naturally occurring hazards.

  • Always adhere to safety policies (wear protective equipment).

  • Manual dexterityrequiredto use desktop computer and peripherals.

  • Manages up to 200 hourly indirect reports.

  • Need tomaintaina high levelof communication with both internal and external stakeholders, customers,contractor’s, and industry peers
