Job Description
The Production Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and support to members of the Production, with the goal of achieving departmental objectives while meeting or exceeding customer expectations. As this position is "hands-on" in a fast-paced and physically demanding production environment, this person will support the value stream by building respect for team members and putting their improvement ideas to work in a timely manner, while being willing and able to work alongside employees on a daily basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform supervisory responsibilities to include, but not limited to: planning, assigning, and directing work; administering and enforcing Company policies and procedures; managing attendance records and time approval in a timely manner for payroll processing; interviewing, onboarding, and training employees; managing performance, writing and conducting evaluations, and administering corrective actions; and proactively responding to employee concerns to ensure high morale and maximum employee satisfaction.
- Facilitate, promote, and implement lean initiatives that drive continuous improvements in safety, quality, production flow, and tools in Value Stream operations, following RBS tools and methods. Lead and/or participate in Kaizen events and GEMBA "go and see" walks. Participate in daily team meetings and problem-solving sessions.
- Ensure a safe work environment by enforcing the Plant Safety Policy and state and federal Safety and Health regulations.
- Perform support tasks as required by the role to include, but not limited to, developing and writing standard jobs and job breakdowns, auditing the process (i.e., team leader standard job, safety compliance, and quality controls), completing production reports and problem-solving/corrective action documents, and maintaining training/skill matrices.
- Provide coverage for team leader absences by performing elements of their standard work.
- Collaborate with other departments to prevent or resolve workflow and work area anomalies.
- Transition shift information with previous and next shift peers to convey relevant information and production needs.

- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle confidential and proprietary information with integrity.
- Demonstrated safety orientation and compliance mindset. Ensure a safe work environment and that safe work practices are followed.
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Willingness and ability to work extended hours, including weekends as needed to meet customer needs.
Education and experience requirements
- Bachelor's degree desirable
- Will consider a candidate currently enrolled and working toward a degree or who will enroll no later than 6 months after acceptance of the position.
- Previous production leadership experience preferred
- Required
- 3 or more years of work history in a production environment
- Proven experience with various manufacturing equipment and processes (CNC)
- Working knowledge of inspection and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, pressure gauges)
- Formal training in problem solving is an advantage
- The group leader/supervisor will attend approved company leadership, team leadership, and problem-solving courses as they become available.
- Training in CNC machining is required
