Westfalia Fruit Products, situated in Gauteng, Kempton Park (Ripe for you), has vacancy for a suitably qualified and experienced: Production supervisor (3 months fixed-term contract)

Requirements

Purpose of the role:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day production activities to ensure efficient operations, consistent product quality, and compliance with health and safety standards. The role involves supervising production teams, coordinating workflows, meeting production targets, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement to reduce waste and improve efficiency. The Production Supervisor works closely with management and support teams to ensure production plans are executed effectively and operational standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health and Safety, promote a strong safety culture through consistent reporting of near misses, delivering toolbox talks, and supporting the maintenance of ISO 45001 certification.
  • People Management, assist in end-to-end recruitment and onboarding of permanent and seasonal staff, including coordination of pre-employment medicals.
  • Production Management & Process improvement
  • Quality Management, ensure all packing and processing activities strictly adhere to established protocols, specifications, and quality standards
  • Ripening protocols & Facility equipment, ensuring all fruit are ripened according to agreed specifications
  • Documentation housekeeping, Regular checks on all production related documentation, ensuring all documentation are properly and correctly completed

Education:

  • Matric, with a qualification in Agriculture or Production Management.

Experience:

  • +3 years production supervisory experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Health & Safety, or equivalent responsibility.
  • Qualification in Agriculture or production management
  • Stock control experience essential
  • Experience in working for a Woolworths supplier

  • Production planning, workflow coordination, and knowledge of basic labour law.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Health, safety, and quality compliance (GMP/HACCP).
  • Ability to meet production targets and deadlines.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.
  • Performance monitoring and KPI reporting.
  • Waste reduction and efficiency improvement.
  • Equipment and process understanding.
  • Computer literacy and basic production reporting.
