The role

We are seeking a results-driven Production Supervisor to lead second-shift manufacturing operations at our Detroit Kettering facility. This role is responsible for supervising hourly production employees, ensuring safe and efficient assembly operations, and meeting production, quality, and delivery targets in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader with strong operational discipline, experience in lean manufacturing, and the ability to drive accountability, performance, and continuous improvement across their team.

This position is based on-site at our Detroit Kettering facility and reports to the Operations Superintendent as part of the Operations team.

What You’ll Do

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of production team members to meet safety, quality, productivity, and delivery objectives.
    • Monitor and manage production performance using visual management systems, team boards, and key performance indicators.
    • Ensure strict adherence to safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while proactively identifying and addressing potential hazards.
    • Lead problem-solving efforts related to production issues including downtime, quality defects, and nonconforming materials.
    • Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and Logistics teams to resolve operational challenges and maintain production flow.
    • Manage employee performance including training verification, coaching, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations in partnership with Human Resources.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance operational performance.

Who you are

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, or related field preferred.
    • Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory experience in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment.
    • Experience leading hourly production teams in an assembly or manufacturing operation.
    • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, production systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Experience with manufacturing performance metrics including productivity, scrap, downtime, and quality indicators.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.
    • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing equipment, processes, and troubleshooting methods.

Health, Safety, Physical & Travel Requirements

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment with frequent walking, standing, and interaction with production equipment.
    • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and work in a fast-paced production setting.
    • Must comply with all company safety policies and personal protective equipment requirements.
    • Occasional travel may be required (up to 5%).
    • Valid driver’s license required.
