Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of the Position:

The Production Specialist is responsible for supporting daily production operations, monitoring production performance, coordinating cross-functional resources, and driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. This role plays a key part in ensuring smooth execution of the production plan and improving overall manufacturing efficiency.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Support daily production activities to ensure the achievement of production targets in safety, quality, output, and delivery
  • Monitor production status, identify abnormalities, and coordinate with relevant teams to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Track and analyze production KPIs such as output, cycle time, yield, downtime, OEE/TAU, and labor productivity
  • Assist in production planning and scheduling to ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machines, and materials
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Planning, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain, to ensure smooth production operations
  • Prepare and maintain production reports, records, and related documentation accurately and on time
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve process efficiency
  • Support implementation of lean manufacturing, 5S, standard work, and other operational excellence initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards during production operations
  • Assist in operator training, process standardization, and knowledge sharing to improve team capability
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for production-related issues
  • Support new product introduction, process transfer, or capacity expansion activities when required

Experiences/Education - Required

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
• 2–5 years of experience in production, manufacturing, or operations support; fresh graduates with strong potential may also be considered depending on role scope.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, production control, and shop floor operations
• Familiarity with production KPIs and continuous improvement methodologies
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of ERP/MES systems is a plus
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and coordination skills
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or Six Sigma is preferred
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Good command of written and spoken English is preferred.
