Job Summary
The Production Scheduler supports ExoTerra's Littleton/Centennial manufacturing operations by developing, maintaining, and integrating practical schedules that connect customer and program requirements to executable production plans.
The role works across three scheduling needs based on business priorities:
- Own and maintain the integrated Master Production Schedule (MPS) when assigned, ensuring it remains the credible source for production dates, priorities, dependencies, and constraints.
- Partner with Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) owners, Manufacturing Engineers, Production Planners, and production leads to build and maintain detailed LRU schedules that roll into the MPS.
- Plan and track production-related projects, including capital equipment installations, production-line changes, facility moves, and operational-readiness activities.
This is a hands-on, production-facing role. Success means the schedule reflects shop-floor reality, LRU plans are logically connected and achievable, constraints surface early, and stakeholders use a consistent set of dates to make decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Master Production Schedule
- Maintain, publish, and, when assigned, own the integrated MPS across ExoTerra product lines and customer programs.
- Translate program need dates and delivery priorities into a time-phased production plan covering LRU assembly, integration, test, and shipment milestones.
- Maintain schedule logic, predecessors, durations, production locations, equipment assignments, assembly or manufacturing-order references, and forecast completion dates.
- Update the schedule as material, labor, quality, equipment, or technical conditions change while preserving clear version control and communicating the impact of changes.
- Support a disciplined daily and weekly scheduling cadence so Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and program teams work from one current plan.
LRU Schedule Development and Integration
- Work directly with LRU and Integrated Product Team owners to create detailed, logic-driven schedules for thrusters, power processing units, propellant management and distribution assemblies, tanks, harnessing, module integration, test, and other product elements as applicable.
- Facilitate working sessions with Manufacturing Engineering and production leads to define build flow, realistic task durations, dependencies, handoffs, test requirements, and recovery actions.
- Ensure LRU schedules align with MPS milestones and with the manufacturing dates supplied to program Integrated Master Schedules.
- Track LRU status and forecast dates; identify work that is due soon, late, or blocked, and identify downstream impacts before customer delivery dates are affected.
- Help LRU owners improve schedule quality and consistency without transferring operational ownership away from the responsible product or production leader.
Production Sequencing, Capacity, and Constraints
- Sequence production work based on need dates, material readiness, labor and equipment capacity, work-center constraints, quality status, and upstream and downstream dependencies.
- Identify bottlenecks involving shared resources such as test equipment, chambers, specialized labor, or constrained production areas; support scenario analysis and recovery planning.
- Coordinate with Production Planners on manufacturing-order readiness and with Supply Chain on material availability so scheduled work can be released and executed.
- Coordinate with Quality and Engineering to reflect nonconformances, holds, rework, and technical investigations in the schedule and clearly communicate delivery impacts.
- Support capacity and workload reviews with schedule-based data and practical what-if analysis.
Production Project Scheduling
- Develop and maintain schedules for production-related projects such as capital equipment procurement and installation, facility moves, line transfers, workspace reconfiguration, and production-readiness initiatives.
- Build logic-driven plans covering procurement, permitting or approvals, site preparation, equipment delivery, installation, qualification, training, operational readiness, and production cutover, as applicable.
- Integrate project activities with ongoing production requirements to minimize disruption and highlight conflicts between facility or capital work and customer deliveries.
- Track milestones, critical dependencies, risks, decisions, and action owners; provide concise status and escalate issues requiring leadership intervention.
Program and Stakeholder Integration
- Provide program and project schedulers with reliable production milestone dates, LRU status, manufacturing constraints, and schedule risks for incorporation into their Integrated Master Schedules.
- Work with Program Managers, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Planning, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, and other stakeholders to reconcile priorities and maintain aligned dates.
- Participate in production stand-ups, LRU reviews, schedule reviews, and other planning forums; communicate what is on track, at risk, late, or changed.
- Maintain schedule-data integrity and support schedule-performance reporting, including schedule attainment, on-time completion, aging or late work, and forecast delivery performance.
Process Improvement
- Document practical scheduling methods, data definitions, update expectations, and change-control practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve schedule accuracy, production flow, throughput visibility, and coordination among the MPS, LRU schedules, ERP/MRP data, and program schedules.
- Support the continued development of repeatable scheduling processes appropriate for a scaling aerospace manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in production scheduling, manufacturing planning, project scheduling, or a closely related role in a manufacturing or technically complex operating environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build or maintain logic-driven schedules using dependencies, realistic durations, milestones, and status updates.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing-scheduling fundamentals, including sequencing, lead times, material readiness, capacity constraints, work orders, and how delays propagate through a schedule.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Program or Project Management, and production teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with a scheduling or planning tool such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or a comparable platform.
- Working familiarity with ERP, MRP, or MES data, including manufacturing orders or work orders, routings, material status, and production progress.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and make schedule impacts visible.
- Comfort working on the production floor and validating schedule status directly with the people executing the work.
- Associate's degree or equivalent relevant experience; a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, engineering, operations, project management, or a related field is preferred.
- Must satisfy applicable U.S. export-control requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, defense, space hardware, electronics, propulsion, or other low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing.
- Experience scheduling discrete products, subassemblies, LRUs, integration, and test activities across multiple customer programs.
- Experience with Smartsheet and Microsoft Project, including linked dependencies, baselines, critical-path awareness, and schedule reporting.
- Exposure to NetSuite, Costpoint, SAP, Oracle, or another ERP/MRP platform, with familiarity with manufacturing orders, bills of material, routings, and material requirements.
- Experience planning capital equipment installations, facility transitions, manufacturing-line moves, or operational-readiness projects.
- Familiarity with program IMS integration, Earned Value Management concepts, or commercial "EVMS-lite" scheduling practices.
- APICS/ASCM coursework or certification is helpful but not required.
