The Production Process Supervisor is responsible for the overall management and execution of compactor installation activities, including project planning, preparation, team assignments, required project modifications, installation completion, and final inspection. The position is responsible for ensuring each installation is completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and in a manner that consistently exceeds customer expectations.
Responsibilities of Position:
- Work in conjunction with the Division Manager and Production Process Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute installation activities in accordance with established specifications, quality standards, and project deadlines
- Provide day-to-day leadership, management, and support to installation associates, including work assignments, scheduling, performance management and accountability, communication, and assistance in resolving operational or installation-related issues
- Assist with the management and accountability of new and used installation equipment, including equipment on order and equipment within current inventory, in coordination with the Office Manager and Operations Coordinators
- Ensure associates are assigned and issued equipment, vehicles, tools, and safety equipment that meet applicable DOT, ANSI, OSHA, and company safety requirements and are appropriate for the successful completion of assigned work. This includes oversight of required driver and equipment checklists, safety processes, safety equipment, and the timely repair or replacement of tools and equipment
- Assist with the review and processing of associate installation service tickets to verify accurate parts usage, labor/time allocation, expenses, and other required documentation. Identify and address discrepancies to ensure accurate job costing and reporting
- Conduct or coordinate monthly and annual inspections of required installation equipment, vehicles, tools, and related assets to ensure they remain safe, compliant, properly maintained, and ready for use
- Monitor installation activities and work practices to ensure quality, productivity, safety, vehicle cleanliness, branding standards, and adherence to the department's expectations
- Assist with the coordination of required project changes and ensure changes are effectively communicated, documented, and incorporated into the installation process
- Support the final inspection and completion of installation projects to ensure all work meets company standards and customer expectations before the project is considered complete
- Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position will manage 11-20 employees
- This position will not oversee and direct other managers
Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:
- Strong leadership, supervisory, and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and develop employees
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with customers, vendors, and contractors
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance laws pertaining to DOT, OSHA, and EPA
- Computer skills; proficient in Windows, Microsoft applications, SAP, HRIS systems and Lotus Notes applications a plus
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee multiple installation projects from preparation through final inspection
- Ability to read and interpret installation specifications, work orders, drawings, and technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify issues and determine appropriate modifications or corrective actions
Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:
- 2 years of experience in fabrication/maintenance management
- Waste industry experience preferred
- Familiarity with industrial, fabrication, hydraulic, and electrical work
- Strong knowledge of compactor installation processes, equipment, tools, and related mechanical or hydraulic systems
- Formal OSHA training preferred
Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:
- Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs
- Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
- Occasionally working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
- Occasionally working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
- Rarely stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
- Rarely climbing and/or balancing
- Occasionally sitting/standing/walking
Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:
- Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
- Exposure to residential and commercial waste
- Ability to travel between offices, as required
- Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
- Must be able to read and speak the English language
