Production Planning & Control (PPC) Manager
Department: Production
Reports To: Finance Director
Industry: Perfume Manufacturing
We are seeking an experienced Production Planning & Control (PPC) Manager to oversee production planning, scheduling, inventory control and manufacturing coordination within a perfume manufacturing environment.
The role will be responsible for ensuring efficient utilisation of production resources, timely manufacturing and order fulfilment, optimal inventory levels and effective coordination across Production, Procurement, Warehouse, Quality, Sales and other relevant functions.
The successful candidate will bring strong production planning, MRP, inventory management and ERP expertise, with the ability to optimise capacity, improve manufacturing efficiency and support continuous cost and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop daily, weekly and monthly production plans based on sales forecasts, customer demand and inventory requirements.
- Translate demand forecasts into practical production schedules and manufacturing priorities.
- Monitor production schedules to ensure timely order fulfilment.
- Balance production capacity, material availability, manpower and machine utilisation.
- Identify potential production constraints and implement corrective actions.
2. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate closely with Sales, Procurement, Warehouse, Quality Assurance and Production teams.
- Align production plans with customer requirements, sales priorities and inventory targets.
- Work with Procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials and packaging materials.
- Coordinate with Warehouse teams to maintain smooth material flow into and out of production.
- Support coordination of new product launches with R&D, Marketing and other relevant teams.
3. Material Requirements Planning & Inventory Control
- Manage Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to ensure availability of materials required for production.
- Monitor raw materials, packaging materials, semi-finished goods and finished-product inventories.
- Prevent production disruptions caused by material shortages.
- Work with Procurement to minimise excess inventory and optimise stock levels.
- Establish appropriate inventory planning parameters based on demand, lead times and production requirements.
- Identify slow-moving, excess and potentially obsolete inventory.
4. Capacity & Resource Planning
- Optimise machine utilisation and production capacity.
- Plan manpower allocation according to production requirements.
- Identify bottlenecks and capacity constraints across manufacturing operations.
- Develop capacity plans to support current and future production requirements.
- Recommend resource or process changes required to improve manufacturing throughput.
5. Production Performance & KPI Management
- Monitor key manufacturing KPIs including production output, downtime, waste, efficiency and schedule adherence.
- Analyse production performance and identify root causes of inefficiencies.
- Prepare regular production performance reports for management.
- Track production plan versus actual output and implement corrective actions where required.
- Develop actionable insights to improve productivity, efficiency and resource utilisation.
6. Manufacturing Efficiency & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement initiatives to improve production efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Drive reduction of production waste, downtime and avoidable resource consumption.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review production processes and recommend improvements in workflow, capacity utilisation and resource allocation.
- Work with relevant teams to improve overall manufacturing productivity.
7. Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure production planning and execution are aligned with applicable quality and safety standards.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance to address production-related quality issues.
- Ensure production processes and schedules support consistent product quality.
- Escalate operational risks that may affect quality, safety, delivery or customer commitments.
8. ERP & Production Systems
- Manage production planning activities through ERP systems.
- Ensure accurate production data, material requirements, inventory information and production schedules within the ERP.
- Use ERP data to support production planning, capacity management and inventory decisions.
- Contribute to improvements in ERP-based planning and reporting processes.
9. Reporting & Management Information
- Prepare production plans and schedules for relevant stakeholders.
- Develop production and inventory planning reports.
- Provide management with visibility into production capacity, material availability, inventory levels and potential delivery risks.
- Maintain accurate planning data and ensure timely escalation of production constraints.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of experience in production planning and control.
- Experience within perfume, cosmetics, FMCG, pharmaceutical or manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.
- UAE experience is preferred.
- Proven experience managing production schedules, MRP, inventory and manufacturing coordination.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams across Production, Procurement, Warehouse, Sales and Quality.
