Job Category: Production As the Production Planning Backlog Coordinator at Schuff Steel, you'll play a key role in supporting the production planning team by assisting with the building and maintaining of detailed backlogs and associated tracking tools. You will directly support their shared goal and ability to successfully ensure the fabrication schedule is well-organized, measurable, and aligned with organizational goals. This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys structure, data, and working closely with a team to optimize operations!
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of fabrication backlogs using Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel.
- Aid in developing tools and templates in Excel for tracking production.
- Coordinate with planners and other internal stakeholders to ensure the backlog is accurate and up-to-date.
- Support weekly and monthly reporting by preparing visual dashboards and spreadsheets for leadership review.
- Learn and adapt to company-specific Microsoft Project workflows.
- Maintain logs and documentation.
- Participate in ongoing process improvement efforts within the Production Planning team.
- Provide general administrative and data support to the Production Planning Manager as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Experience/

Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, formatting, charts, etc.).
- Familiarity with other Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Outlook, and Windows OS.
- Ability to learn and work within Microsoft Project.
- Basic understanding of project scheduling concepts is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Willingness to take initiative and follow through on assigned tasks.
- Comfort working in a team-oriented office environment with occasional exposure to shop operations.
Skills/Education Requirements:
- 1–3 years of scheduling and planning experience
- Proficient knowledge and use of Excel, MS Office, and SharePoint.
- P6 and/or MS Project experience is highly preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment:
Position requires as many hours as needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions.  This position is generally indoors in a climate-controlled office. However, occasional exposure to production environments during routine collaboration.
