Job Description

Balance the execution of activities supporting product availability to customers and investments of capital in inventories to support corporate and local business plans and obligations to shareholders.

Main Tasks

  • Manage material inventory levels to meet plant goals.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams for problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Provide support to product line schedulers/warehouse/distribution center to ensure acceptable customer service levels.
  • Monitor supplier delivery and quality performance Supplier release delivery dates and quantities and follow up with suppliers to ensure on time delivery of supplier material
  • Work with low performing suppliers/production lines to improve delivery.
  • Create and issue logistics complaints to suppliers when there are performance issues
  • Compile supplier performance information for monthly reporting.
  • Participate in supplier selection to support facility needs and qualification requirements.
  • Manage and/or participate in new product introductions and product changes to ensure on-time introduction.
  • Visually check inventory, search for material at docks, warehouse, production lines.
  • Walk production lines to check run problems and scheduling issues.
  • Monitor material shortages and work with suppliers if unplanned replenishment material needs an expedite of inbound material
  • Coordinates expedite inbound freight arrangements if needed for supplier material
  • Work with new program teams to establish safety stock and initial supplier releases for new part numbers
  • Work with engineering change teams to balance out existing material and establish safety stock and initial supplier releases for new material change
  • Monitor material that is phasing out to minimize or prevent obsolescence
  • Communicate exception requirements to suppliers if there is a sudden increase of decrease in customer demand or the need to increase material release quantities to support a customer bank build
  • Evaluates customer demand and firms up planned orders in SAP for assigned production centers.
  • Creates production schedules favorable to production efficiency.
  • Establishes priorities for production runs
  • Communicate with production team on a regular basis.
  • Monitor schedule adherence.
  • Maintains accurate record keeping and reporting utilizing SAP
  • Operates a computer, calculator, copier, fax machine and standard office equipment
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record to ensure timely work completion
  • Performs all activities in a professional and positive manner
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, MMS and established safety rules
  • Practice good housekeeping habits in work area and throughout the facility

Your Profile

Education:

  • Associate Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Technology, Supply Chain Management, a related discipline, or equivalent in related experience.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years in purchasing environment dealing with vendors. Experience should include all phases of establishing a supplier base to provide materials and products which will support production requirements.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Materials Management Module or related other MRP system knowledge
