Job Description

Job Purpose

To manage end-to-end Production Planning & Control activities by ensuring accurate BOM structuring, routing, forecasting, capacity planning, cost activation, project planning, production scheduling, engineering change implementation, inventory planning, and cross-functional coordination to achieve on-time delivery, optimum resource utilization, and operational excellence.

Job Context

Responsible for planning, scheduling, and controlling manufacturing activities to ensure on-time delivery, optimum resource utilization, and operational efficiency. The role manages BOMs, routings, forecasting, capacity planning, engineering change implementation, costing activities, production scheduling, and project planning in D365 while collaborating closely with Engineering, SCM, Production, Projects, and Quality teams to support seamless execution and business objectives.

Key Accountabilities;

BOM Management & Product Data Management

  • Create, structure, and maintain multi-level Bills of Materials (BOM) for parts, sub-assemblies, and finished goods in D365.
  • Define manufacturing and processing methods for new products.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Projects, SCM, Production, and Quality teams for BOM validation.
  • Create and update part master data and new part lists.
  • Define manufacturing checkpoints and control points.
  • Ensure BOM accuracy and timely updates for engineering and production requirements.

Engineering Change Management (ECN)

  • Review Engineering Change Notes (ECNs) and assess planning impacts.
  • Maintain ECN implementation tracker.
  • Coordinate with SCM, Engineering, Production, and Quality teams for change implementation.
  • Conduct review meetings and monitor effective implementation.
  • Communicate and circulate approved changes across relevant functions.
  • Track closure of engineering changes to ensure compliance and traceability.

Demand Planning & Forecast Management

  • Create and maintain demand forecast lines in D365.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Projects, SCM, and Production teams for forecast alignment.
  • Monitor forecast accuracy and communicate planning updates to stakeholders.
  • Support Make-or-Buy decisions for planning items.
  • Create and maintain BOMs and planning parameters in ERP.

Capacity Planning & Manpower Planning

  • Perform manpower calculations based on production requirements.
  • Ensure manufacturing routes are created and maintained for all planned products.
  • Download, analyze, and consolidate BOM data for capacity planning.
  • Generate planning reports, productivity analysis, and resource utilization dashboards.
  • Develop simplified planning models to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Cost Activation & Costing Support

  • Verify BOMs, routing structures, consumable kits, and technical specifications before cost activation.
  • Support standard cost estimation and cost analysis activities.
  • Perform cost activation in D365 for manufactured and purchased items.
  • Coordinate with Purchase, Engineering, Finance, and Production teams for accurate costing.
  • Support periodic cost roll-up exercises and costing validations.

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Execute order firming activities in ERP.
  • Prepare Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) inputs.
  • Develop weekly production schedules and monthly manufacturing plans.
  • Perform product-line-wise capacity planning.
  • Balance customer demand with manufacturing capability.
  • Release monthly production plans and monitor adherence.

Project Planning & Execution Support

  • Plan project-wise, finished goods requirements in coordination with Engineering and Project Management teams.
  • Monitor project schedules and material readiness.
  • Support execution teams with timely project deliveries.
  • Coordinate manufacturing priorities based on project milestones.

Order Milestone Tracking

  • Track order progresses from planning through dispatch.
  • Monitor critical milestones and identify potential delays.
  • Ensure timely follow-up with stakeholders for issue resolution.
  • Maintain accurate order tracking records and achieve delivery commitments.

Budgeting & Annual Planning Support

  • Support yearly budgeting exercises through BOM verification and costing data preparation.
  • Create costing BOMs and routes for budget forecasting.
  • Perform annual cost activation activities.
  • Provide planning inputs for business projections and operational budgets.

Year-End Planning Activities

  • Review and validate all production BOMs and routings.
  • Ensure implementation of required engineering and costing updates.
  • Conduct annual BOM roll-up and verification.
  • Execute year-end standard cost activation and system updates.

Production Coordination & Operational Control

  • Conduct daily synchronization meetings with feeder manufacturing and final assembly teams.
  • Coordinate material availability and production priorities with CFT members.
  • Resolve planning and execution-related issues on a real-time basis.
  • Support smooth production flow and operational efficiency.

MIS & Performance Reporting

  • Generate Weekly and Monthly MIS reports.
  • Track production performance, delivery adherence, capacity utilization, and forecast accuracy.
  • Develop dashboards and planning reports for management review.
  • Provide analytical inputs to improve operational performance.

Spares Planning & Tracking

  • Plan and track Customer, Service, and Intercompany spare orders.
  • Ensure timely availability and dispatch of spares.
  • Coordinate with SCM, Service, Projects, and Production teams for fulfillment
  • Monitor spares performance and service-level achievement.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.

Responsibilities:

1) Production Planning: Contribute data and information to production plans. Run reports, check accuracy, and distribute information.

2) Quality Assurance: Conduct complex analyses, quality tests, and inspections that require a high level of independent judgment.

3) Operational Compliance: Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards. Obtain authorization from a supervisor or manager for any exceptions from mandatory procedure.

4) Internal Communications: Use the internal communications system to access specific information.

5) Solutions Analysis: Find the most effective ways to respond to routine functional inquiries. Involves following procedures and precedents.

6) Inventory Control: Carry out a range of inventory-control management activities using existing procedures.

7) Sourcing: Collect and collate information on the key cost drivers, market dynamics and issues, areas of innovation, and alternative suppliers to provide solid market information to more senior colleagues for decision-making.

8) Data Collection and Analysis: Produce accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting it into standard formats.

9) Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Educational Requirements: Post-Secondary Non-Tertiary Education

General Experience Requirement: Sound experience and understanding of straightforward procedures or systems (7 to 12 months)

Managerial Experience Requirement: Very limited (0 to 3 months)
