Job Description

The Production Planner is primarily responsible for developing production schedules to meet on time delivery requirements while maintaining target inventory levels, maximized efficiencies, and minimizing waste. Strong collaboration with operations, forecasting, and customer support is critical to success in this role.

Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities:

  • Follow direction provided by Manufacturing Manager or designee.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required. Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations.
  • Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organization’s core values.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Establish, post, and communicate production schedules.
  • Develops a functional understanding of shop floor equipment, labor constraints and alternate routing methods.
  • Procurement of subcontract operations.
  • Analyze demand of assigned manufacturing area(s) to meet customer and inventory requirements.
  • Develops formal production plans and schedules and updates as required. Schedules to minimize waste, optimize efficiencies, and utilize capacities.
  • Provides shop floor work instructions and works closely with area manufacturing supervisors to ensure adherence to the schedule and targeted equipment performance.
  • Proactively address and communicate schedule issues or sudden shifts in demand and impacts to inventory levels and adjusting production schedules to achieve inventory targets.
  • Communicates effectively, as liaison between operations, customer service, and leadership on any service issues.
  • Monitors production attainment to the manufacturing schedule and makes appropriate adjustments.

Education/Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor or Associates degree preferred with 3-5 years of production planning and/or purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent
  • Solid understanding of ERP systems (Epicor desired).
  • Computer literacy including MS Office applications.

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production process, quality control, costs, and other techniques to maximize the effectiveness of manufacturing.

  • Experience presenting ideas effectively and communicating with all levels of management.
