Shell is seekingaProductionOperator– Upstream (also known internally aseither aPlantor Field Operator)to join its team inFort St. John

Shell Canada’sGroundbirchasset islocatedapproximately 70 km southwest of Fort St. John, British Columbia. It is an upstream Montney gas field that includesroughly 500operating wells and four gas plants.Groundbirchis a key asset supplying feed gas to LNG Canada; we take pride in helping Canada deliver LNG to the rest of the world.

The Production Operator– Upstreamisresponsible forthe safe, reliable, and efficient operation of oil and gas production facilities. This role ensures production targets are met whilemaintainingstrict adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards

In addition, this is a field-based role with exposure to varying weather conditions. The work schedule will be 7 days on/7 days off (12-hourshifts) or 8 days on/6 days off (10-hour shifts)depending on successful candidates best fit into the organization, including night shifts and on-call requirements.

Accountabilities

Safe and Compliant Operations

• Operate plant and field equipmentin accordance withestablished procedures and permits

• Maintain full compliance with regulatory requirementssuch asOH&S, environmental, WHMIS, TDG

• Identifyhazards,participatein risk assessments, and apply controls to mitigate risks

• Execute Emergency Response procedures whenrequired

Production Execution

• Work closely with the Remote Operations Center (ROC) tomonitor, control, andoptimizeproduction processes to meet volume and quality targets

• Perform routine checks on wells, pipelines, compressors, separators, and processing equipment

• Adjust process parameters tomaintainoptimalproduction efficiency and integrity

Equipment Reliability & Maintenance

• Conduct routine inspections, troubleshooting, and minor maintenance

• Identifyequipment issues early and initiate work requests for corrective action

• Support planned maintenance activities, shutdowns, and turnarounds

Surveillance & Reporting

• Record production data, field readings, and operational status accurately andin a timely manner

• Maintain logbooks, shift reports, and digital reporting systems

• Escalate abnormal conditions or equipment failures promptly

Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to operational excellence through participation in improvement initiatives

• Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions (PDCA mindset)

• Identifyopportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance reliability

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations teams.

• Participate actively in shift handovers, tailgate talks, and safety meetings

• Contribute to a culture of psychological safety and inclusive teamwork

Whatyou bring

• Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyoneother than current employer

• High School Diploma

• 4th class Power Engineer is a plus

• At least10Years upstream operation and/or gas plant operating experiencerequired

• Experience in wellsite, gathering operations,and/or gas plant operating systems

• Strong understanding of oil and gas production processes and equipment

• Working knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements

• Must be willing to work on-call shifts, including nights and weekends, with occasional overtime as needed 

• Willing to work outside in inclement weather  

• Willing to climb ladders, walk up and down steps, and work at heights  

• Willing to work a rotating shift work schedule  

• Comfortable working alone outside of normal business hours and/or with minimal supervision  

• Willing to be on call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies  

• Willing to support and comply with the company’s safety policies and initiatives  

• Must have a Driver License
