Job Description

The Plant Operator position is responsible for blending the prescribed raw materials to ensure consistent quality, following the formula(s) and procedures established by the company without deviation. Ensure that all products are produced safely, efficiently, and meet all quality standards as set forth by the company, which is also responsible for Environmental, Safety, and Health compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Mixer/Line
      • Daily organization of production line i.e. cleaning and maintenance.
      • Follow up use of correct labels, lot numbers and administration.
      • Accurately weigh and measure ingredients, clean, load, operate, and unload mixers, tanks, and other auxiliary equipment.
      • Operation of the production installations in accordance with the instructions.
      • Lifting and moving up to 40kg of bags and up to 200kg drums of raw materials.
      • Production of products in accordance with the mixing instruction.
  • Packaging/Bagging
      • Daily organization of the packaging/bagging line
      • Follow up use of correct labels, lot numbers and administration.
      • Ensuring the that the line is clean all the times before packaging.
      • Packing product into 15 and 25 kg bags and stitching of the bags.
      • Packing, palletizing and wrapping of the pallets.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12
  • 2+ years of experience in chemical Batch processing is a plus.
  • Chemical qualification is an added advantage.
  • Forklift license is an advantage.
  • Mathematical Skills
          • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and be able to work with fractions and decimals.
  • Language Skills:
          • Must have written and verbal communication
          • Must be able to effectively speak in front of large groups.
  • Reasoning Ability:
          • Ability to identify bottlenecks and equipment inefficiencies.
  • Work Environment
          • Typical manufacturing floor environment.
          • Hazardous chemicals
          • Shift work when required
  • Physical Demands:
          • Lifting and moving up to 40kg of bags and up to 200kg drums of raw materials.
          • Packing product into 25 kg bags.
          • Using stairs for most of the day
          • Unafraid of heights
