Are you passionate about agricultural production, compliance, and operational excellence? We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Production Officer to join our Production team. This role is ideal for a professional who enjoys working with data, maintaining compliance standards, and supporting farm operations to ensure optimal production outcomes.

About the Role

The Production Officer plays a critical role in supporting production activities across crop management, compliance, water monitoring, equipment maintenance, and operational administration. The successful candidate will ensure accurate record keeping, maintain compliance with industry standards, and support the Production Manager in achieving production and quality objectives.

Key Performance Outputs

Crop Management

  • Assist with crop census activities, block counts, and census reporting.

  • Coordinate monthly Agronomy Drip & Drain and SOP sample collection and documentation.

  • Maintain crop protection records and chemical application summaries.

  • Manage fertigation documentation, including mixing programmes and checklists.

  • Support production data management and quality control activities.

Compliance Management

  • Maintain and update Quality Management System (QMS) documentation.

  • Coordinate Global GAP and SIZA compliance records and audits.

  • Manage documentation relating to: Client specifications, Audit certifications, Internal audits, Health & Safety risk assessments, Food Safety and HACCP plans, Chemical and fertilizer MSDS documentation,Environmental and ethical compliance records

  • Facilitate risk assessments and compliance meetings.

  • Support employees with compliance and safety-related queries.

  • Ensure adherence to waste management, environmental, and housing policies.

Water & Maintenance Administration

  • Track and report borehole water meter readings.

  • Update SIZA KPI records.

  • Monitor equipment maintenance schedules and records.

  • Maintain housing maintenance records and job card systems.

General Operational Support

  • Maintain weather and rainfall records.

  • Manage PPE ordering and stock control.

  • Ensure farm signage and notice boards are compliant and up to standard.

  • Support the Production Manager with daily operational reporting and administration.

Cold Room Operations (where applicable)

  • Monitor fruit quality, harvest protocols, and logistics.

  • Maintain stock, delivery, and dispatch records.

  • Oversee FIFO inventory controls.

  • Support cold-room health, safety, maintenance, and compliance requirements.

  • Manage stock tracking and pallet build-up on Netsuite.

Pollination & Bee Management (where applicable)

  • Maintain pollination tracking records and flower count sheets.

  • Manage bee hive location maps and movement records.

  • Track hive arrivals, exchanges, and departures.


Requirements


Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Senior Certificate / Grade 12 / Matric.

  • Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Food Science, Food Safety, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in agricultural production, compliance, or a related environment.

Technical Competencies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of Global GAP and SIZA standards.

  • Understanding of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and Occupational Health & Safety Act.

  • Knowledge of fertigation, crop protection, pollination, and agronomy sampling will be advantageous.
