Position Summary

Under general supervision and following established procedures, the Production Material Handler is responsible for efficiently and accurately pulling material for production orders, performing material stocking and material handling operations throughout the Production Warehouse/Distribution facility. All responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with pre-determined performance standards for the position and in accordance with all Company policies and safety rules.

All job responsibilities are to be performed in strict adherence with the company’s Mission/Values Statement and in accordance with established standards for external customers as well as internal customers.

Pay/Schedule

  • $24/hour - $28/hour -Dependent upon experience & qualifications
  • 1st Shift: Monday – Friday from 5:00am – 1:30pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.

  1. Off load trailers and verify quantity and routing of material.
  2. Receive incoming inventory and WIP, record on-line in appropriate computer record.
  3. Process a variety of reports to locate PO# and verify routing and receiving.
  4. Separate and route products to assembly or to inventory.
  5. Process a variety of reports to identify open orders and create shipping plans. Manage the order database and coordinate with the Shipping Coordinator. Review open orders, check status, review open inventory items, review out of stock items for same day delivery and coordinate appropriate communications to ensure on-time performance.
  6. Prioritize workload and provide work direction to order pullers and other material handlers.
  7. Put away inventory in the appropriate locations and record the transactions in the computer system.
  8. Pull orders from inventory and prepare the units for shipment.
  9. Create Delivery Receipts, Pick Lists, and BOL’s using the IT system.
  10. Load outgoing trucks according to shipping plans, ensure loads are safe and stable to prevent damage.
  11. Effectively interact with customers, drivers, and shipping carriers to coordinate shipments and satisfy open order demand.
  12. Perform established quality inspections.
  13. Perform the required daily machine and work area maintenance as directed, ensure that aisles are swept daily, scrap sheets, plastic bands, wood chunks and old tags are discarded when discovered.
  14. Participate in periodic staff meetings as required of the position. Participate in periodic development and training programs as required.
  15. Establish and maintain a “Team Atmosphere”.
  16. Performs a variety of miscellaneous job-related tasks as may be assigned from time-to-time by a Management Representative.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Two to three years’ experience and/or training in a warehouse environment preferred.
  • Current forklift certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Ability to read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure, manuals and order specifications.
  • Knowledge of material handling operations, methods and best practices.
  • Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages.
  • Mechanical and spatial aptitude. Attention to detail, accuracy and quality.
  • Enthusiasm, dedication, reliability and punctuality required.
  • Ability to move from task/assignment to another on short notice.
  • Personal computer skills using a variety of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to function effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to use computer keyboard/typing skills.
