Purpose
Plans and directs all activities for the Manufacturing Departments in the plant.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
• Provides leadership and manages the entire Manufacturing Department
• Provides leadership and manages continuous improvement activities. Goals should be directed toward making improvements to the process directly focusing on man, method, machine, and material. Three principles of TPS should be at the forefront of all activities (Bekido, Chokko, and Yarijimai).
• Provide uniformity across production value streams regarding manpower layout, organization layout, improvement efforts, daily equipment maintenance, 5-S standardization, and quality adherence.
• Responsible for creating annual business plan for manufacturing KPIs, labor, and overhead expense.
• Obtain and analyze production data/results (line results, shift results, etc.) to understand trends and weak points so improvements can be made to the underperforming conditions / lines.
• Effectively demonstrate data driven analysis of problems and issues. Improvement efforts should be centered on this data so effective countermeasures can be put in place. The ability to concisely explain issues and countermeasures (long term and short term) using charts, graphs, verbal skills, and other presentation skills is a necessary activity and attribute.
• Responsible for achieving the company’s overall production targets and efficiencies (which include achieving targeted Bekido rates, Chokko rates, PPH goals, and PPLH goals.
• Responsible for providing leadership and direction to achieve the company’s overall Quality Goals.
• Work with the Quality Department to establish and achieve Quality Goals pertaining to Scrap % Reductions, Non-Conformance Product Reporting, and Customer Complaints reductions.
• Assure the safe working conditions for all Manufacturing Team Members and directly provide influence to achieve the stated Company’s goals and targets for Safety and Environmental compliance. Accountable for the implementation of EMS in their areas.
• Actively strive to improve machine uptime by managing and directing improvement activities while working in close conjunction with Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance Departments.
• Identify training and development needs for department team members.
• Support company policy and administer fairly and consistently.
• Facilitate good communications with leaders and team members for establishing expectations and problem resolution.
• Other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• This position is responsible for supervising department team members in accordance with policies and procedures.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Supervisory knowledge in a manufacturing environment.
• General understanding of highly sophisticated equipment, software, mechanical blueprints, electrical diagrams, cutting tools, production control in mass-production manufacturing.
• Understanding of quality assurance system.
• Solid problem-solving skills using a variety of statistical and root cause tools.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with lean production concepts and tools.
• Motivational and supervisory skills in large groups. Highly motivated and high energy level.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
• Ability to deal with stress and emergency situations.
• Ability to train others.
• Ability to work overtime is an essential function of the position.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Production Management, Business, or Engineering from a four-year college or university; and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training with advanced training; or combination of higher learning and demonstrated progressive responsibilities in the manufacturing field.
• Supervisory experience for 3 years or more preferred.

• Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
• The performance of this position requires exposure to manufacturing areas, which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
• Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 10-20% of time.
