Our client is an established specialist provider within the aviation industry, delivering aircraft painting, refurbishment and transformation services to commercial aviation customers.
Operating within a specialist hangar environment, the business manages complex production projects that require effective planning, strong operational leadership, attention to detail and a consistent commitment to quality, safety and performance.
The organisation is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead its production operations in Malta. This is an excellent opportunity for an established production or project management professional currently based in Milan or elsewhere in Italy who is interested in taking on a new challenge and relocating to Malta.
The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing day to day production activities, managing operational teams and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed schedules, budgets and quality standards.
Working closely with senior management, operational teams, customers and other stakeholders, the successful candidate will take ownership of production planning, project execution, resource management and operational performance.
This is a hands on management position requiring strong leadership, commercial awareness, project management capability and the ability to manage competing operational priorities within a busy aircraft hangar environment.
Oversee daily production activities and ensure work is planned, organised and delivered effectively.
Manage production operations within the aircraft hangar, ensuring resources, personnel and equipment are appropriately allocated.
Monitor production schedules, project milestones and operational priorities to ensure work is completed within agreed timescales.
Maintain oversight of production performance, identifying potential delays, operational issues and opportunities for improvement.
Ensure production activities are carried out in accordance with established company procedures and operational standards.
Plan, coordinate and manage production projects from preparation through to completion.
Establish project requirements, schedules, milestones, resource plans and delivery expectations.
Monitor project progress against agreed timelines, budgets and performance targets.
Identify and manage operational risks, resolving issues that may affect project delivery.
Coordinate with internal teams, management and customers to ensure project requirements are understood and delivered.
Monitor project costs and support effective commercial and financial control throughout the production process.
Ensure appropriate project documentation, reporting and progress updates are maintained.
Provide effective leadership and direction to production teams.
Coordinate workloads and ensure employees understand their responsibilities, priorities and performance expectations.
Monitor individual and team performance, providing guidance and support where required.
Promote a positive working environment built around accountability, teamwork, communication and continuous improvement.
Ensure appropriate communication between production teams, management and other departments.
Organise and participate in operational meetings to review progress, address challenges and agree priorities.
Ensure production activities meet the required quality standards and customer expectations.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and operational discipline throughout the hangar.
Ensure compliance with company health and safety procedures and relevant operational requirements.
Promote a proactive approach to workplace safety, identifying potential risks and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.
Monitor environmental and operational standards and support the implementation of improvements where required.
Monitor production expenditure, project costs and operational budgets.
Support cost control and ensure resources are used efficiently.
Review operational performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce unnecessary costs.
Oversee the effective use and maintenance of production equipment and facilities.
Support preventative maintenance planning to minimise disruption to production activities.
Maintain effective communication with senior management, production teams and customers.
Provide regular updates on production progress, project delivery and operational performance.
Contribute to company initiatives and operational improvement projects.
Identify opportunities to improve production processes, efficiency, quality and overall performance.
Undertake additional responsibilities as required by the Operations Manager or Directors.
At least 3 years' experience in a Project Management or Production Management position within the aviation industry.
Previous experience managing production operations, projects or operational teams within a specialist industrial or aviation environment.
Demonstrable experience planning, coordinating and delivering projects against agreed schedules and budgets.
Strong understanding of production planning, resource allocation and operational management.
Experience managing teams and coordinating workloads within a busy operational environment.
Good commercial awareness, including experience monitoring project costs, budgets and operational expenditure.
Knowledge of quality management, health and safety requirements and operational compliance.
Strong organisational, planning and problem solving skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and make effective decisions in a time sensitive production environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with management, employees, customers and other stakeholders.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
A proactive and accountable approach, with the ability to take ownership of production performance and project delivery.
A degree or equivalent qualification in Project Management, Production Management, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
Additional professional project management qualifications or relevant industry training.
Previous experience within aircraft painting, aircraft refurbishment, aircraft maintenance or commercial aviation hangar operations.
Experience managing large teams or complex production projects.
Experience working with operational budgets, cost control and commercial agreements.
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and production efficiency initiatives.
Experience working within a customer focused, deadline driven operational environment.
Permanent, full time position based in Malta.
Onsite working within an aviation hangar and production environment.
Four days on followed by four days off working pattern.
The role may require travel to other company or customer locations, with travel requirements expected to be approximately 25%.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a hands on operational environment and managing production activities to meet customer and business requirements.
