Lactalis U.S Yogurt, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Production Manager, Filling & Packing in Brattleboro, VT.

The Manager – Production, Filling and Packing will be responsible for the overall daily management and leadership of the Fill Pack and Material Handling Departments. This critical role will be responsible for achieving annual operational goals across key metrics, including safety, cost, quality, material yields, and capital projects. The Manager will provide strong guidance to optimize processing, manage daily operations, recommend manufacturing improvements, and will be specifically responsible for raw material management and the execution of the plant savings plan to enhance financial performance. Additionally, the role will include the vital responsibility of overseeing employee training and development. The role will report to the Assistant Plant Director.

From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Enforce and apply all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) rules, including participation in risk assessments and coordinating root cause analysis for safety events.
  • Ensure strict compliance with government standards (FDA, OSHA) and regulatory requirements (Good Manufacturing Practices, FSSC22000).
  • Maintain hygiene and food-safety rules, manage deviation investigations, and ensure proper sampling and control practices.
  • Execute quality-assurance programs, prevent product defects, and direct process adjustments to meet quality standards.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities with supervisors and managers to support quality and equipment maintenance.
  • Oversee staff administrative duties and manage vendor relationships while driving downtime-reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor shift performance, coach employees, and support continuous improvement.
  • Develop machine operators and promote cross-training to build flexibility and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to the production schedule and maintain smooth workflow coordination.
  • Apply technical knowledge of packaging lines and support troubleshooting with operators and maintenance teams.
  • Analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to improve performance and reduce downtime from changeovers, breakdowns, or quality gaps.
  • Communicate effectively across shifts and partner with management to optimize technical, financial, and operational performance.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Production supervisors in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

Education

  • An associate’s degree or equivalent experience (7 years) is required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Majors in business, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field are required.

Experience

  • 4+ years of supervisor experience is preferred.
  • Previous employment in a food industry setting is required; dairy experience preferred.

Certifications and specific knowledge

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
  • Ability to operate in a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt in a changing work environment.
  • Computer proficiency: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
