Job Description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating all production and operational activities. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing of chemical products while meeting customer, quality, and business objectives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who drives performance through strong communication, process improvement, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Production Management

  • Oversee daily production activities, including planning, scheduling, and execution
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of chemical processes and equipment
  • Monitor and improve productivity, quality, and cost performance
  • Coordinate raw material planning, inventory control, and finished goods distribution
  • Minimize downtime through collaboration with maintenance and engineering teams

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, coach, and develop production personnel, including hiring, training, and performance management
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and operator coverage for production needs
  • Lead by example with a strong commitment to company values and objectives

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Enforce all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards (e.g., ISO, NSF) and internal procedures
  • Lead incident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and inventory records

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Transportation
  • Support capital projects, system improvements, and operational initiatives
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma practices where applicable

Administrative & Systems Responsibilities

  • Utilize ERP/CMMS systems (e.g., ROSS, MaintainX) for production and inventory management
  • Track and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory
  • Assist with budgeting, month-end close, purchasing, and reporting activities
  • Maintain documentation for regulatory and operational compliance

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on production supervision or management experience
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, inventory control, and production planning
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general business systems
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field
  • 7–15 years of progressive manufacturing or operations experience
  • Experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of ISO/NSF standards and audit processes
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification or experience
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., ROSS) and maintenance systems (e.g., MaintainX)

Physical & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed
  • Frequent standing, walking, and navigating a large industrial site
  • Work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying environmental conditions
  • Exposure to industrial equipment, chemicals, noise, and temperature extremes

Additional Requirements

  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and changing shifts as needed
  • Ability to provide hands-on operational support when required
  • Participation in all corporate and site-specific safety and compliance training
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screening
