About Us

At Southern Fresh, we don’t just produce fresh food - we build high-performing systems, teams, and a business committed to continuous improvement.

We’re focused on creating a world-class operation where planning, execution, accountability, and teamwork drive everything we do. As the business continues to grow, we’re looking for a Production Manager who can bring structure, leadership, and operational excellence to our production.

This is an opportunity to join a practical, fast-paced business where your ability to improve systems, solve problems, and lead operational performance will make a real impact.

About the Role

This is a key operational leadership role responsible for production planning, scheduling, systems
performance, and continuous improvement across our production operation.

You’ll work closely with Sales, Cropping, Harvesting, Procurement, Maintenance, and Production teams to ensure production plans are executed efficiently, customer demand is met, and operational performance continues to improve.

While strong planning and operational capability are essential, this role is equally about people
leadership. We're looking for someone who can build accountability, drive discipline, develop leaders, and create a positive culture where people take ownership and perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead production planning and scheduling across daily and weekly operations
  • Ensure production plans are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time
  • Monitor labour, materials, and production capacity to optimise performance
  • Own KPI tracking, reporting, and operational performance analysis
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production processes
  • Improve ERP and production system effectiveness and data integrity
  • Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks and production constraints
  • Lead, coach, and develop frontline leaders and production teams
  • Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and operational discipline
  • Drive consistent adherence to systems, processes, and standards
  • Maintain high standards across food safety, quality, and health & safety

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in production planning, scheduling, or operations management
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to build high-performing teams
  • Background in manufacturing, food production, or horticulture operations
  • Strong organisational and analytical capability
  • Experience with ERP systems and operational reporting (Dynamics 365 advantageous)
  • Continuous improvement mindset with LEAN experience highly regarded
  • Ability to balance operational priorities, deadlines, and changing demands
  • Strong communication and coordination skills across multiple teams
  • A practical, hands-on manager who drives accountability and results
  • High attention to detail with a structured and disciplined approach

Why Join Southern Fresh?

  • Be part of a growing, forward-thinking horticulture business
  • Join a company focused on building world-class systems, people, and operations
  • Take ownership of a key leadership role with real influence across the business
  • Opportunity to drive meaningful systems and process improvements
  • Work alongside a practical, supportive, and ambitious leadership team
  • Enjoy a fast-paced environment where your ideas and input are valued
  • Opportunity to grow your leadership capability and make a visible impact
  • Competitive salary based on experience

Applications close 30th June 2026, but we will be reviewing candidates as they apply - so don’t wait.
