Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for day-to-day EHS, production efficiency and quality decisions to ensure production runs well. This leader will coach and mentor Production Supervisors, Team Leads, and future potentials in production to build leadership and technical bench strength.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

Safety

  • Make employee safety a priority every day.

  • Work with EHS and supervisors to identify and mitigate safety hazards

People Management

  • Coach supervisors and team leads: regular meetings with leaders to update on current matters, keep the group aligned on priorities

  • Supervise the Production Planner/Inventory Coordinator. Back up as needed for time off

  • Engage hourly employees daily, setting an example of Sanimax’s core values: Improvement, Consideration, Integrity and Collaboration to foster a safe and productive atmosphere

Production

  • Work with Production Planner/Inventory Coordinator to ensure production records accurate inventory and supports sales and the customer in meeting expectations

  • Review and work with support departments on new processes and procedures for production such as health and safety, quality, sales/logistics, entrance building, etc.

  • Take phone calls after hours with regards to production and loadout to guide Supervisors

  • Represent production needs in Maintenance scheduling and planning decisions, coordinating plant downtime and major repair prioritization

  • Lead winter and summer readiness productions efforts annually, building and distributing the ever-updating presentations and processes

  • Participate in Capital Projects weekly meeting, and give input on production needs and preferences for execution of projects

  • Lead supplier yield test schedule, procedures, and communication within production and with support departments.

Collaboration

  • Strive for continuous improvement in production through identifying root causes and trends of issues as well as opportunities for improvement and working with engineering and other departments to highlight issues and putting in place plans to address and make changes.

Quality

  • Ensure production process is managed to achieve quality goals

  • Work with Inventory Coordinator to maximize tallow blending opportunities as it relates to FFA

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Strong computer skills in Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Engineering experience is a plus

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is a plus
