We are actively seeking an experienced Production Machinists to join and grow in the PPG organization.

The Production Machinist is responsible for operating CNC machine tools in a fast-paced job shop environment supporting the aerospace and defense industry. This position focuses on safely producing quality parts according to work instructions, blueprints, and process documentation. The Production Machinist performs routine machine operation tasks, tool touch-offs, offset adjustments, inspections, and basic troubleshooting to maintain production and quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Operate CNC mills, lathes, and other production equipment according to established procedures.
  • Load and unload parts and materials safely and efficiently.
  • Perform tool touch-offs and make approved tool offset adjustments.
  • Monitor machine performance and identify potential issues affecting quality or productivity.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints, work instructions, travelers, and inspection requirements.
  • Complete production documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain part traceability and compliance with aerospace quality requirements.
  • Replace worn tooling and notify supervision when tooling or equipment issues arise.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain an organized work area.
  • Assist setup machinists and supervisors as needed to meet production schedules.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of machining experience in a CNC manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating CNC lathes and/or mills.
  • Ability to perform tool touch-offs and basic offset adjustments.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and process documentation.
  • Basic computer skills for production reporting and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Experience in an aerospace, defense, medical, or other highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems.
  • Experience machining complex alloys including stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, titanium, or hardened materials.
  • Forklift or crane experience (if applicable).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Understanding of machining fundamentals, tooling, and cutting conditions.
  • Ability to identify nonconforming conditions and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attendance and reliability.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
