Job Description

The Lead is responsible for coordinating day-to-day machining and repair activities with efficiency, quality, and safety. The Lead will accomplish this through directing the work flow in the shop, ensuring safe work practices are followed, and will provide guidance to other machinists as required.

This is a dayshift position 6am - 2:30pm

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and coordinate operators and machinists in the facility.
  • Review and coordinate production schedule, confirming targets are met on a daily basis.
  • Set up and operate lathes or other machines.
  • Interpret engineering drawings for specifications, set up and operating requirements.
  • Clean machine, tooling and parts, and may perform minor machine maintenance.
  • Assist with recruitment, promotions and employee relations.
  • Drive safety, quality, 5S, and house-keeping throughout the machine shop area in the facility.
  • Coach, mentor, and help others to improve their knowledge or skills.
  • May complete tasks of operators and machinists.
  • Other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Trade Certification

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Trade certification ticket or applicable training/experience required.
  • communication and management skills.

HSEQ REQUIREMENTS

  • Collaborate with HSE on all near miss / incident reporting to identify root causes and improve processes.
  • Be a HSEQ champion, demonstrating HSEQ compliance and support for HSEQ initiatives.

This position is classified as safety sensitive and employment would be conditional on satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
